Practice 1 at round 7 of the 2026 Indy NXT season in Detroit has been completed, view the full results here.
In the doubleheader at IMS, HMD Motorsports had a clean sweep as Enzo Fittipaldi and Tymek Kucharczyk put themselves right into the title battle as they won a race each last time out. It means heading into Sunday’s race that Johnson, the Pole, Taylor and the Brazilian are covered by just 16 points.
Jack Beeton was in trouble early doors as the classic white smoke trouble appeared to be coming from his engine.
Kucharczyk (x2) and Koreiba found the turn 1 run-off but got back going. A red flag was caused by Etter as he got stuck down there for a bit of a period a few minutes later.
Title contender Max Taylor returned to the box and his mechanics were looking at his right front brake.
A second red flag was thrown as Max Garcia crashed at turn 1 by carrying too much speed in; he found the wall. Carson Etter then clouted into him but only lost his front wing.
A 1:07.009 from Lochie Hughes saw the Australian top the session by 0.3s from Andretti teammates Josh Pierson and Seb Murray.
