Practice 2 for round 7 of the 2026 Indy NXT season in Detroit is complete, following a disrupted opening session on the streets of Detroit. View full results here.
Lochie Hughes topped practice 1 with a 1:07.009, leading Andretti teammates Josh Pierson and Seb Murray by three tenths. The session featured multiple trips to the Turn 1 run-off, including red flags for Carson Etter and Max Garcia.
With Johnson, Taylor, Fittipaldi and Kucharczyk separated by just 16 points heading into Sunday’s race, Practice 2 offers the field one final chance to build confidence before qualifying.
Turn 1 proved difficult during Practice 1, and Tymek Kucharczyk was the first driver to visit the Turn 1 run-off in Practice 2.
Carson Etter also visited the run-off as drivers continued to push the limits around the tight Detroit street circuit.
Practice 1 pace-setter Lochie Hughes had a big slide before returning to the pits.
Myles Rowe had a big slide and lock-up through Turn 3, but continued on.
Max Taylor found the wall at the end of the session, bringing out a red flag, and ending the session.
After topping Practice 1, Andretti Global continued to show strong pace on the streets of Detroit as Max Taylor led the way in the second session with a 1:05.3964. Teammate Lochie Hughes ended the session in P2, just over two tenths back, while championship leader Nikita Johnson completed the top 3 for Cape Motorsports.
Enzo Fittipaldi was 4th for HMD Motorsports, with Colin Kaminsky rounding out the top 5 for Abel Motorsports.
