Tymek Kucharczyk enters the session with momentum after topping practice 2 ahead of Alessandro de Tullio. De Tullio has been the driver to beat on Saturdays this season, earning seven poles and ten front row starts through the opening 13 races.
The championship battle remains tight, with Nikita Johnson holding just a one-point advantage over Enzo Fittipaldi and Kucharczyk sitting 25 points behind the leader.
Green flag for Group 1 at Portland
Johnson set the first official laptime, with a 1:03.0158. He’s followed by de Tullio in second with a 1:03.4865.
Newcomer Bart Harrison laid down a 1:03.4582 to move into third.
Max Taylor’s 1:02.8170 put him at the top, with de Tullio improving behind him to sit just four-hundredths of a second slower.
ABEL Motorsport’s Max Garcia slotted into third with a 1:02.7814 before being pipped by Seb Murray’s 1:02.6500. The top three were separated by less than a tenth of a second.
With just three minutes remaining, de Tullio jumped to provisional pole with a 1:02.2006. Jacob Abel followed him to second with a 1:02.3116.
De Tullio ended Group 1 on top, three-hundredths of a second ahead of Taylor, giving him a chance to equal Dennis Hauger’s record from last year of eight Indy NXT poles in a single season.

Group 2 hits the track for Qualifying at Portland
JM Correa is the first driver to set a representative time, his 1:03.3909 putting him at the top. He was immediately displaced by Portland native Josh Pierson with a 1:03.3029.
ABEL Motorsports teammates Myles Rowe and Colin Kaminsky jump to the top of the time sheet with a 1:02.9643 and a 1:02.9748, respectively.
Pierson improved with a 1:02.4920, before Rowe reclaimed the top spot with a 1:02.4101.
The time to beat in group two is de Tullio’s 1:02.2006, with the fastest group earning the odd-numbered starting positions.
With three minutes remaining, Kucharczyk jumped to the top with a 1:02.2268. Lochie Hughes followed with a 1:02.2039, just three-thousandths of a second shy of de Tullio’s provisional pole time.

2026 Indy NXT Portland Qualifying results
“Mr. Saturday,” de Tullio claimed pole for the 2026 Indy NXT Portland Grand Prix. His eighth pole of the season puts him just one shy of Pato O’Ward’s all-time Indy NXT record of nine poles in a single season.
In an incredibly tight qualifying session, all 24 drivers were separated by just over one second.
