The IndyCar grid takes to the streets of Washington, D.C on a brand-new 1.7-mile, 7-turn circuit, racing past some of the USA’s most important monuments. Round 14 in Washington marks the third new circuit that the drivers have raced on thus far in the season, following Arlington and Markham.
The session started late because early-morning rain disrupted the marshals’ communication chain; eventually, cars hit the track.
The final moments of the combined session ticked away as Rinus VeeKay and Dennis Huager were the first to find the sub-1-minute times, with Alexander Rossi ultimately topping the combined session at the checkered flag.
Kyle Kirkwood tops the first of the split sessions, and defending champion Alex Palou tops the second.
