The 2026 24 Hours of Le Mans will bring together a 62-car field across three classes: Hypercar, LMP2 and LMGT3. The provisional entry list features 18 Hypercars, 19 LMP2 prototypes and 25 LMGT3 cars, with six further cars named on the reserve list.

That mix gives the 94th running of the French endurance classic a strong balance. Hypercar will fight for overall victory, LMP2 will deliver the privateer prototype battle, and LMGT3 will bring road-based manufacturer rivalry to the Circuit de la Sarthe.

The entry also reflects the current strength of endurance racing. Major manufacturers headline the top class, independent teams fill LMP2, and nine GT brands appear in LMGT3. As a result, the 2026 grid should deliver depth, variety and constant traffic across the full 24 hours.

Hypercar: the fight for overall victory

Hypercar remains the headline class at Le Mans. In 2026, 18 cars will contest the category, with Aston Martin, Toyota, Cadillac, BMW, Genesis, Alpine, Ferrari and Peugeot represented on the grid.

The class includes a mixture of established winners, developing programmes and ambitious newcomers. Ferrari returns with the 499P after its recent Le Mans success, Toyota brings proven endurance pedigree, BMW arrives with momentum, Cadillac attacks with three V-Series.R entries, and Genesis makes one of the most anticipated appearances with its new GMR-001-Hypercar.

Aston Martin also continues its Valkyrie programme, while Alpine and Peugeot seek stronger results with their respective A424 and 9X8 projects. Therefore, the class promises a wide-open battle for overall honours.

LMP2: the independent prototype contest

LMP2 adds 19 cars to the 2026 field. The class uses Oreca 07-Gibson machinery throughout the Le Mans entry list, which means teams will make the difference through preparation, race execution, driver performance and strategy.

The category also includes a major Pro-Am element. Cars with Bronze drivers compete for the LMP2 Pro-Am classification, creating a second contest inside the class.

Inter Europol Competition returns with two entries and enters as one of the leading threats. United Autosports, Proton Competition, TDS Racing, Algarve Pro Racing, AO by TF and AF Corse also bring serious pedigree to the class.

LMGT3: nine manufacturers and 25 cars

LMGT3 completes the 2026 grid with 25 cars. The class features Aston Martin, BMW, Corvette, Ferrari, Ford, Lexus, Mercedes-AMG, McLaren and Porsche machinery, all represented by privateer teams.

This class replaced GTE at Le Mans and in the FIA World Endurance Championship. It uses GT3-based cars adapted for the demands of the WEC and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The LMGT3 field offers the largest class on the grid. Ferrari has five cars, Corvette has four, Aston Martin and Mercedes-AMG have three each, while BMW, Ford, Lexus, McLaren and Porsche each bring two cars.

That spread should create one of the most unpredictable class battles of the race.

What the 2026 entry list tells us

The 2026 Le Mans entry list shows a healthy and varied endurance racing landscape. Hypercar gives the race a manufacturer-heavy fight for overall victory. LMP2 preserves the independent prototype tradition. LMGT3 brings recognisable road-car brands and privateer teams into a packed GT battle.

The numbers also tell an important story. Hypercar has 18 cars, which gives the top class enough depth to create a genuine multi-manufacturer fight. LMP2 has 19 entries, including several Pro-Am contenders. LMGT3 has 25 entries, making it the largest class at the race.

Together, these classes create a grid with constant traffic, contrasting speeds and different strategic priorities. That combination defines Le Mans. A Hypercar fighting for the overall lead may need to pass an LMP2 through the Porsche Curves while an LMGT3 car manages its own class battle just ahead. Over 24 hours, those moments can decide the race.

A varied grid promises an exciting race

The 2026 24 Hours of Le Mans entry list promises one of the most varied grids of the modern era. The overall fight should feature Ferrari, Toyota, Cadillac, BMW and several ambitious challengers, while LMP2 looks set for another tense privateer contest.

Meanwhile, LMGT3 offers the biggest class and perhaps the widest set of possible winners. Ferrari, Corvette, Porsche, McLaren, Aston Martin, BMW, Lexus, Ford and Mercedes-AMG all bring different strengths to the race.

With 62 cars confirmed on the provisional entry list, the 94th 24 Hours of Le Mans has the ingredients for a demanding, unpredictable and highly competitive edition.
