Williams Racing has confirmed that Alessandro Giusti will remain in Formula 3 for the 2026 season. The Italian continues with MP Motorsport and receives support from the Williams Racing Driver Academy in his Formula 1 pursuit.
A strong foundation in F3
The 2025 campaign marked Giusti’s first season in Formula 3, where he quickly impressed. He scored points in 13 races and secured two podiums, showcasing his potential in junior single-seater racing.
The standout moments of Giusti’s debut year came with a third-place finish in Barcelona and an even stronger second-place result in Austria. These performances built upon his impressive junior career trajectory, which included a dominant French Formula 4 championship victory in 2022 and a successful rookie campaign in FRECA during 2023, where he claimed three victories, four podium finishes, and two pole positions.
Championship ambitions for 2026
With a full season of Formula 3 experience now under his belt, Giusti enters 2026 with significantly higher expectations and championship aspirations. The Italian has adapted to this year’s new-specification Formula 3 machinery, gaining valuable insights into the technical demands of the current cars.
The continuity with MP Motorsport provides Giusti with a crucial advantage heading into the new season. Consequently, with strong ties to his engineering team and staff, he focuses on consistency across race weekend sessions.
“I’m excited to return to Formula 3 with MP Motorsport next year and use everything I’ve learned to challenge for the title in 2026,” Giusti commented on his contract extension. “My confidence has grown a lot this season and I’m feeling at home in the team. Thank you to the Williams Racing Driver Academy for their continued support and trust in me. I look forward to working together more next year and can’t wait to get back behind the wheel!”
Williams Academy’s development success
Moreover, the Williams Racing Driver Academy continues to demonstrate its effectiveness in nurturing young talent through the motorsport pyramid. The programme’s recent successes include Franco Colapinto’s remarkable graduation to a Formula 1 race seat, proving the academy’s ability to develop drivers capable of competing at the sport’s highest level.
Currently, Luke Browning exemplifies the academy’s strength in Formula 2, entering the championship’s closing rounds as the second-placed driver after securing his maiden feature race victory at Monza on Sunday.
Approach on development
Williams’ driver development approach goes beyond financial support. It includes on-track and off-track programmes for top-level motorsport. In addition, this holistic method builds racing skills, mental resilience, physical conditioning, and media capabilities required in Formula 1.
Sporting Director Sven Smeets expressed confidence in Giusti’s trajectory, stating: “We’re looking forward to seeing Alessandro fight for the title in FIA Formula 3 and hope to see his experience and hard work pay off in 2026. He has made good progress this year, developing well on and off the track. Next season will give him the opportunity to strengthen his skill even further as he progresses through the motorsport ladder.”
