Indian racing driver Ary Bansal will make his GB3 Championship debut with TJ Speed Motorsports during the 2026 season finale at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on 7–8 November. The 16-year-old joins the American-Australian outfit following a successful campaign across several European junior single-seater championships, including race victories in Italian F4, E4 and the Formula Winter Series.

Bansal, who secured the 2025 GB4 Drivers’ Championship with Elite Motorsport, will partner German driver Arjen Kräling in TJ Speed’s two-car line-up. Both drivers will make their GB3 debuts as the team prepares for its first competitive appearance in Europe, marking an important step in its international expansion.

The Barcelona weekend will provide Bansal with an opportunity to experience more powerful machinery following his extensive Formula 4 programme. It also represents another stage in his progression through the junior single-seater categories as he evaluates opportunities for the 2027 season.

Bansal steps up following 2025 GB4 Championship success

Bansal returns to the British single-seater ladder after an impressive 2025 campaign in GB4, where he secured the Drivers’ Championship following a closely contested season. Competing with Elite Motorsport, the Indian driver recorded four victories and 11 podium finishes, ultimately claiming the title at the Donington Park season finale.

His championship campaign began with victory at the Donington Park season opener, although his strongest performances emerged during the middle and latter stages of the year. A double victory at Snetterton revitalised his title challenge, while a remarkable sequence of five podium finishes and one victory across the final seven races helped him establish himself among the leading contenders.

Bansal entered the final weekend with the championship still undecided, but his victory in the penultimate race and third-place finish in the finale secured the title with 402 points. He finished 11 points ahead of Elite Motorsport teammate Isaac Phelps and Hillspeed’s Daniel Guinchard, who ended the campaign level on 391 points.

The achievement marked an important milestone in Bansal’s development following his transition from karting to single-seaters. He previously discussed his journey from India and progression through junior motorsport in an exclusive interview, reflecting on the experiences that shaped his early career and ambitions.

Italian F4 and international campaigns strengthen Bansal’s experience

Following his GB4 success, Bansal expanded his racing programme significantly in 2026, competing across several European championships to gain experience in different machinery and competitive environments.

He finished sixth in the Italian F4 Drivers’ Championship after securing two victories at Mugello and Misano, alongside four additional podium finishes. The results demonstrated his ability to challenge at the front of one of Europe’s most competitive Formula 4 championships while continuing to develop his qualifying performance and racecraft.

Bansal had already begun the year strongly in the Formula Winter Series, where he finished third overall after claiming victories at Portimão and MotorLand Aragón. He subsequently added another race win to his record during the E4 Championship round at Monza, further strengthening his results across the Formula 4 category.

Beyond those campaigns, the Indian driver also gained experience in higher-level single-seater machinery. He made a one-off appearance in the Formula Regional European Championship season finale at Hockenheim before competing in the concluding Euroformula Open round at Barcelona, where he secured second place in the final race.

His busy schedule has provided a foundation for his next step, with the upcoming GB3 appearance offering another opportunity to assess his development against drivers with experience in more powerful machinery.

Bansal targets progress throughout Barcelona GB3 debut

Bansal will now turn his attention to the Tatuus MSV GB3-025, which represents a considerable increase in performance compared with the Formula 4 machinery he has raced throughout the season.

The GB3 car features greater aerodynamic downforce, additional power and a Drag Reduction System, introducing new technical demands as drivers adapt their braking, cornering and race management. Barcelona’s combination of high-speed corners, long straights and technical sections will provide a demanding environment for his first appearance.

Although Bansal brings considerable experience from several junior categories, he recognises the importance of adapting progressively to the unfamiliar machinery. Rather than concentrating exclusively on immediate results, the Indian driver intends to maximise each session and develop his understanding of the car alongside his new team.

“I’m pleased to be joining TJ Speed for the GB3 season finale in Barcelona. I have some great memories from GB4 last year, and stepping into a new car will be an exciting experience. The priority will be to make progress with each session and get the car into a good window to maximise performance. I’m looking forward to getting behind the wheel and putting ourselves in contention for strong results.”

TJ Speed completes two-car line-up for European debut

Bansal’s arrival completes TJ Speed Motorsports’ two-car entry for the Barcelona weekend, with the team having previously confirmed Kräling as its first driver. The German racer has competed in Italian F4, British F4, GB4 and E4, while also securing a Formula Winter Series victory earlier this year.

The pair will therefore bring complementary experience to the organisation as it makes its first appearance in European competition. TJ Speed has already established a successful record in North American junior single-seater racing, including consecutive Formula Regional Americas titles and multiple victories in USF Pro 2000.

Founded in 2021, the Indiana-based outfit operates under the leadership of Australian engineer and Team Principal Tim Neff. Its expansion into GB3 follows several successful seasons across American single-seater categories, with Barcelona potentially providing a foundation for a full-time European programme in 2027.

The team previously confirmed Kräling for its Barcelona debut, outlining its ambitions to establish a presence in Europe while supporting young drivers through their progression towards higher categories.

Bansal’s confirmation now gives the team two promising competitors who will both aim to gain experience throughout the championship’s concluding weekend.

Neff confident in Bansal’s ability to deliver strong results

TJ Speed Motorsports Team Principal Neff welcomed Bansal’s arrival, highlighting the Indian driver’s achievements across several championships despite his relatively young age.

Neff believes Bansal’s experience in different single-seater categories will provide a valuable foundation as he adapts to GB3 machinery. Furthermore, the team principal expressed confidence in the abilities of both drivers as the organisation prepares to compete against established European teams for the first time.

“Having a driver like Ary on board with us for our first round in GB3 is a real coup for us, and we’re very confident he will be able to show his outstanding abilities this weekend in Barcelona. While he’s still so young, Ary has built up some great experience across a range of machinery already and that should be a valuable foundation for him. We couldn’t wish for a better line-up for our first GB3 event, and we’re excited to get going ahead of the weekend.”

Neff’s comments underline the organisation’s ambition to make a competitive start in GB3 while using the Barcelona event to evaluate its operations and potential future involvement in the championship.

Barcelona finale provides important opportunity for Bansal and TJ Speed

Bansal and Kräling will make their GB3 debuts during a competitive season finale, with several established teams and drivers still fighting for championship honours.

The 2026 GB3 Teams’ Championship battle remains closely contested, with Rodin Motorsport holding a narrow advantage over VRD Racing. Meanwhile, Hitech and Xcel Motorsport also retain mathematical opportunities to claim the title, adding further significance to the final three races.

The weekend will also feature several other newcomers stepping up from lower categories, including British F4 runner-up Theo Palmer, who will make his debut with Hitech, and GB4 runner-up Fred Green, who joins Elite Motorsport.

For Bansal, the event represents an opportunity to build on his successful 2026 campaign while gaining experience of machinery that could feature in his future racing plans. His familiarity with Barcelona from his recent Euroformula Open appearance may also prove valuable as he adapts to the different characteristics of the GB3 car.

Bansal will subsequently turn his attention to the 2026 FIA Formula Regional World Cup at Macau, where he will compete with Trident from 19–22 November.

For TJ Speed, the Barcelona weekend marks the beginning of a new chapter in European motorsport. With two promising young drivers completing its line-up, the team will aim to gain valuable experience and establish a foundation for potential further participation in GB3.
