After a six week break from full-electric motorsport, Formula E is back! This weekend the double-header will take place at Tempelhof Airport in Berlin, Germany. The 2026 Hankook Berlin E-Prix hosts rounds seven and eight at the legendary circuit.
Berlin is the only city to have hosted the E-Prix every season since Formula E’s inauguration. Ever since, the German capital has hosted a total of 22 E-Prix.
The city has seen fifteen winners over the course of ten years with António Félix Da Costa and Nick Cassidy being tied which three wins each.
Tempelhof Airport Circuit
It is a well-beloved circuit, as the layout is easily adaptable. In 2020 when the pandemic hit, the organisators had to re-scheduled the the calendar. Therefore did Berlin host the last six races in season six. Five different layouts were used over the course of nine days.
The layout for the 2026 Hankook Berlin E-Prix will remain the same as in season 11 with a circuit length of 2.345km and fifteen turns, driven anti-clockwise. the Attack-Mode zone is on turn two. The Pitboost will take place on Saturday.

Winners in Berlin
At the top of the pyramid are Da Costa and Cassidy with three wins in Berlin. The Portuguese scored back-to-back wins in first two Berlin rounds in 2020 — the years he became champion. Moreover, his most recent win was in 2024 when he outpaced Cassidy by less than a second.
The Kiwi won at Tempelhof in the last three seasons each once. His first win was in 2023 with Envision Racing. There he outpaced Jake Dennis, Andretti, by four tenths of a second. His second win was in 2024, round 9 of the championship. With Jaguar TCS Racing he managed to outperform former DS-Penske driver Jean-Éric Vergne. He left the Frenchman behind with a four second gap. Last season, he won in round 14, beating once-again Dennis by 1.5 seconds.
Other winners at the legendary Tempelhof circuit were Lucas Di Grassi, Mitch Evans, Daniel Abt, Jérôme d’Ambrosio, Nyck de Vries, Maximilian Günther, Norman Nato, Edoardo Mortara, Felix Rosenqvist, Stoffel Vandoorne, and Vergne. The current world champion Oliver Rowland won the Berlin E-Prix in 2020.
Sébastien Buemi won in season two at Strausberger Platz. On that same year he became world champion as well, a very significant win on the streets of Berlin.
A milestone for Buemi
This weekend also marks the 150th E-Prix of Buemi. Until now he has secured two E-Prix wins in Berlin, in 2016 and in 2017 in round 8. Currently the Swiss sits on ninth place in the standings with Envision Racing. Despite having only scored 43 points in the past six E-Prix, Buemi is far from giving up and confident to show electrifying racing at Tempelhof.
“I’m really looking forward to getting back racing with the team after a long gap since Madrid. We’ve been working hard to make sure the improvements we’ve seen so far this season continue and we keep maximising everything we can. Berlin has always delivered exciting races, and we’re expecting this year to be no different.”
A look at this season and what to expect in Berlin
Season 12 has seen five different winners. Da Costa is the only of the five drivers, who managed to secure two E-Prix wins. His back-to-back win in Madrid was a special one, as the day marked his 150th E-Prix! Now he is looking forward with the motivation of securing the third win in a row, eyes on the seasons title.
“It’s been a special run of races for me, and I’m really proud of what we’ve achieved together as a team. Back‑to‑back wins don’t happen without everyone pulling in the same direction, and that’s exactly the environment we have right now.
“Berlin is a place I’ve always enjoyed racing, and coming in with this momentum just adds to the excitement. We’re fully focused on the championship, and I’m ready to fight for another strong result.”
If Da Costa secures at least one win at the 2026 Berlin E-Prix and Cassidy goes home without a win, the Portuguese would break the tie between them, vice versa. Additionally, if Da Costa manages to secure the win on Saturday, he would extent his back-to-back streak. He currently sits with 64 points on the fourth place in the standings with a one point gap to Evans.
Current Championship leader Pascal Wehrlein, Porsche Formula E Team, is looking forward to his home race. So far the German didn’t manage to secure a win in Berlin so far, but that doesn’t leave him pessimistic. Wehrlein is excited to be racing again in front of the German crowd, especially because this year marks the 75th anniversary of Porsche Motorsport.
“Naturally, I’m really looking forward to the home race in Berlin and the support of the many German fans, as well as my family and friends, who will be at the track. On top of that, we’ll be celebrating 75 years of Porsche Motorsport in Berlin – including plenty of historic Porsche race cars in the Fan Village and on track. So, we’re particularly keen to perform well at the Tempelhof circuit.”
Wehrlein sits with 83 points at the top of the standings with Mortara eleven points behind. This weekend, the German could secure his first-ever home win!
