Arden Motorsport has confirmed that karting graduate Charlie Myers will join the team for this weekend’s 2026 GB4 Championship season opener at Silverstone. As a result, the announcement completes the record-breaking 29-car grid for the opening round.
Importantly, Myers will make his car-racing debut at the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit, marking a significant milestone in his young career. Furthermore, the 16-year-old arrives as a local driver, adding a special dimension to his first appearance in single-seater competition.
From indoor karting to competitive racing
Myers’ journey into motorsport began in modest fashion. A casual indoor karting session with friends first sparked his interest in racing. However, he quickly transitioned from hobby to competition, starting his racing career at the age of 13.
From there, he progressed rapidly through the Junior X30 ranks. Moreover, he built most of his experience within the UK, competing in the British Karting Championship alongside regular appearances in the PFI Club and Whilton Mill Club series.
At the same time, Myers gained valuable international exposure. He competed in the IAME Benelux Series and delivered a standout performance by securing pole position at Le Mans in the Eurocup. Consequently, he has already demonstrated both speed and adaptability despite his relatively short career.
In preparation for his GB4 debut, Myers has taken part in extensive pre-season testing. While he lacks the experience of some of his rivals, he has shown encouraging pace and consistency.
Notably, he has regularly run within the midfield and recorded a 16th-place finish on the opening day of testing at Oulton Park. Therefore, his early performances suggest strong potential as he adapts to single-seater machinery.
Myers joining a diverse Arden Motorsport line-up for 2026 GB4 debut
Myers joins a diverse Arden Motorsport line-up for the 2026 season. He will race alongside Singaporean driver Michael Koh and French contender Solenn Amrouche, completing a truly international trio.
This blend of backgrounds and experience levels should provide a solid platform for development. In addition, the Banbury-based team has expressed confidence in Myers’ ability to progress throughout the season.
Speaking ahead of his debut, Myers expressed both excitement and determination. He said, “I am excited and proud to be joining Arden Motorsport for the 2026 GB4 Championship. I have been given the opportunity to step up this year, from karting, and I’m eager to learn and develop as the season progresses and make a statement as a rookie.
“I am very much looking forward to round one and getting the season started. A big thank you to my family, sponsors Unlockd and Live Happy, and management SECTR Sports Management for making this happen.”
Meanwhile, Arden Motorsport Team Principal Garry Horner highlighted the team’s belief in their new signing. He said, “We’re very pleased to complete our GB4 line-up for the 2026 season with the signing of Charlie Myers. He’s proven himself to be a talented individual in his short karting career, and we’re looking forward to working with him as he adapts to car racing for the first time. He’s done well in pre-season, and if he keeps up his rate of development, he should threaten the top half of the field before too long.”
A big opportunity at Silverstone
As the GB4 season begins at Silverstone, Myers faces a challenging but exciting opportunity. Not only will he compete against a highly competitive grid, but he will also do so at his home circuit.
Therefore, while expectations remain measured, his early progress and strong karting background suggest he could emerge as one to watch as the season unfolds.
