Round 15 of the 2025 F1 championship is in the books as the Dutch GP race has been completed, full report and results below.

Oscar Piastri started on pole after pipping Lando Norris to pole by 0.012s. Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar were on the second row. Ollie Bearman started in the pit lane after power unit component changes.

14 of the 20 drivers started on mediums. Verstappen, Tsunoda, Colapinto and Hülkenberg went for softs, with Bearman and Ocon on hards.

Lewis Hamilton was placed under investigation for not lifting under yellow flags during laps to the grid. It will be looked at after the Grand Prix.

Race start

Piastri and Norris got even launches, with the Aussie going to cover the Brit. Verstappen swept around the outside, taking P2 into turn 2. The Dutchman had a huge slide out of it but somehow saved it.

Leclerc jumped Russell on the opening lap for 5th. The biggest winner by a distance was Alex Albon as he vaulted up to 10th from P15 on the grid. Tsunoda jumped Antonelli and Alonso to move into 11th. The Spaniard fell three spots.

Battles down the field

It was a horrible first lap for Gabriel Bortoleto as he bogged down off the line and dropped five spots to P18.

Stroll and Bortoleto went at it into turn 11, making slight contact. The Canadian got the move done.

After a bad run out of the last corner for car #10, Colapinto overtook Gasly into turn 1 for 14th.

Red Bull start to struggle on softs

On lap 9, Lando Norris got into the DRS of Max Verstappen and made his move around the outside into turn 1 for P2. Meanwhile Yuki Tsunoda dropped away from Alex Albon and started to come under pressure from Kimi Antonelli.

The Alpines switched positions as Gasly’s mediums were now faster than Colapinto’s softs.

Following an early stop for Stroll, he undercut Alonso, Tsunoda, Colapinto and Hülkenberg who boxed on laps 19 and 20. The Spanaird undercut the Red Bull driver.

Lewis Hamilton crashes out

The Safety Car appeared on lap 23 as Lewis Hamilton crashed out. He lost the rear in the banking of turn 3 and ended up in the wall. His day was done. Teammate Charles Leclerc had pitted at the end of the lap before that, gifting George Russell a free spot as he got to pit behind the SC.

Piastri, Norris, Verstappen, Hadjar, Russell, Leclerc, Lawson, Sainz, Ocon and Albon was the top 10 on the restart. The Haas drivers did not pit. Everyone was on hards aside from Verstappen on mediums.

Lawson and Sainz collide

Lawson and Sainz tangled at turn 1, both picking up damage and limping back to the pits with punctures. It meant Alex Albon moved up to 7th as he cleared Ocon into the same corner himself just before that. Antonelli and Stroll also cleared Ocon.

Behind them, Tsunoda passed Alonso for 12th.

Piastri, Norris, Verstappen, Hadjar, Russell, Leclerc, Albon, Antonelli, Stroll and Ocon was the order at that point.

VSC leads to a tasty battle

A VSC was called on lap 31 for debris on the main straight. On the restart, Charles Leclerc caught George Russell napping and made a brilliant move into turn 12. Small contact was made but no serious damage was done. Meanwhile Kimi Antonelli overtook Alex Albon for 7th into turn 1.

The stewards decided to hand Carlos Sainz a 10-second penalty for the collision with Liam Lawson.

On lap 41, Mercedes swapped the cars as floor damage for Russell following the battle with Leclerc meant they felt Antonelli was faster. The Italian took P6.

Second Safety Car on a horror day for Ferrari

After Kimi Antonelli boxed from P6 for softs, Ferrari decided to respond. As Leclerc just came out ahead, Kimi Antonelli tried a very ambitious move into turn 3 and understeered into the Monegasque, taking him out of the race. The Italian picked up a puncture from it.

Most cars boxed once again, with the McLarens going to hards. Verstappen, Hadjar, Russell, Albon, Antonelli all were on softs. Gasly did not pit and moved up to P8. Alonso did not either after getting his stop done 13 laps before it and was carving his way through before the Safety Car after catching the DRS train behind the Haas pair. Bortoleto also stayed out and was P10 on old hards.

Bearman, Stroll, Tsunoda, Ocon, Colapinto, Hülkenberg, Lawson and Sainz was the rest of the order. All of them boxed behind the Safety Car and the Spanish driver took his penalty.

Bortoleto slides down the field

On those very old hard tyres, the Brazilian was swallowed up. Bearman, Stroll, Alonso, Tsunoda, Ocon, Colapinto and Hülkenberg all overtook him. He ultimately boxed.

In a battle for P13, Ocon and Colapinto rubbed wheels out of turn 10. The Frenchman kept his position.

Bearman and Stroll cleared Alonso for P9 and P10 on their newer rubber. The Brit then cleared Gasly into turn 1 on lap 63 with DRS. Stroll followed through a lap later. It got worse for the Frenchman as Alonso took 10th.

A huge moment in the Drivers’ Championship

With less than 10 laps to go, Lando Norris’ car packed up as unreliability hit his car. Smoke came from the back of his car as he pulled over before turn 9 from a very comfortable P2.

Piastri, Verstappen, Hadjar, Russell, Albon, Antonelli, Bearman, Stroll, Alonso and Gasly was the top 10 as the race restarted on lap 69. The Italian was racing with a 15-second penalty over his head after the collision with Leclerc and speeding in the pits.

Gasly could not hold on with his old hard tyres, losing out to Tsunoda and Ocon and falling to 12th. Ultimately he fell to last as his tyres completely gave up.

Piastri managed things perfectly for a huge victory. Verstappen was P2 for a second year in a row at home. The biggest cheer was for Isack Hadjar as the Frenchman secured a brilliant maiden F1 podium.

Russell, Albon, Bearman, Stroll, Alonso, Tsunoda and Ocon provisionally rounded out the top 10.
