The F2 Feature Race at the 2026 Australian GP delivered drama from the very beginning and remained unpredictable throughout.

Firstly, trouble struck before the race began when Sebastian Montoya of PREMA Racing was noted for an unsafe release after colliding with Roman Bilinski of DAMS Lucas Oil in the pit lane. Despite the early incident, the field completed the formation lap without further issues.

At lights out, Alex Dunne and Martinius Stenshorne of Rodin Motorsport made excellent starts and surged past pole-sitter Dino Beganovic. Stenshorne quickly took the lead ahead of Dunne, while Nikola Tsolov and Rafael Câmara settled behind.

However, the race soon turned chaotic when Dunne attempted a DRS-assisted move on Stenshorne into Turn 1. The contact punctured Stenshorne’s tyres and sent both Rodin drivers into the gravel. Consequently, Tsolov inherited the lead, with Câmara moving into second as the Safety Car neutralised the race.

After the restart on Lap 6, strategy quickly became crucial as drivers began making pit stops. Meanwhile, stewards handed penalties to several drivers, including a five-second penalty for Montoya for speeding in the pit lane and another for Joshua Dürksen for a false start.

Later, Beganovic’s race ended on Lap 16 after he stopped at Turn 10, triggering a Virtual Safety Car which soon turned into a full Safety Car. During the strategy shuffle, Nicolás Varrone briefly led but later received a five-second penalty for speeding in the pit lane.

Following the restart, Tsolov reclaimed control of the race and managed the closing laps effectively. Despite pressure from Câmara, Tsolov held on to secure victory, while Câmara finished second and Laurens van Hoepen completed the podium in Melbourne.
