Rafael Câmara lined up on pole for the 2026 F2 British GP Feature Race, having claimed his third pole position of the season in Qualifying on Friday. Alongside him on the front row was Alex Dunne, with Kush Maini and Roman Bilinski completing the second row. Nikola Tsolov started fifth after a solid Qualifying performance.

Tsolov’s Sprint Race victory moved him into the lead of the Drivers’ Championship heading into Sunday. Minì, who led for much of the Sprint before locking up on the final lap to hand Tsolov the win, dropped back in the standings.

Lights out for the 2026 F2 British GP Feature Race

Stenshorne did not make the start. The Rodin Motorsport driver stopped at Turn 9 on the formation lap with a technical issue, ruling him out before the race began.

At the green flag, Maini made a stunning launch from the second row and shot straight into the lead. Câmara’s start was poor and he dropped towards P5. He then went around the outside of Dunne with all four wheels over the white line, gaining the position. Invicta Racing instructed Câmara to hand it back over the radio. He complied on the Hangar straight, losing valuable time in the process.

Tsolov’s strong getaway from P5 moved him into second, but Maini had already built a 1.7-second advantage by the end of the opening lap. Behind the leaders, contact between teammates Boya and Montoya briefly brought them together at turn 3, while Miyata lost a position to Varrone in the early exchanges.

With DRS enabled from Lap 2, Câmara now faced the task of passing Dunne all over again. Inthraphuvasak also made his presence felt, getting past Bilinski to move into P5. On Lap 3, Câmara closed in on Bilinski and made his move to reclaim a position.

Early pit stops shake up the 2026 F2 British GP Feature Race

With the soft tyre degrading quickly and graining already a concern on the left front, Câmara told his team as early as Lap 5 that he wanted to stop. The pit window opened at the end of Lap 6, and the frontrunners on the soft compound wasted little time.

Maini pitted at the end of Lap 6, with Tsolov, Dunne, Câmara, Miyata, Bilinski, Varrone, Montoya, and Fittipaldi all following, rejoining in broadly the same order. That handed the effective race lead to the hard tyre runners, with Villagómez moving to the front ahead of Dürksen.

Dürksen ran on the hard compound and posted lap times matching those of the soft-tyre leaders early doors, running directly behind Villagómez with both drivers yet to make their mandatory stops. Once everyone who started on the softs boxed, the Mexican was comfortably the fastest of those who began on hards.

As the leaders returned on fresh hard tyres, the battle between Maini and Tsolov resumed immediately. Tsolov closed in with the aid of DRS and pushed for a way through, but Maini held firm. Dürksen also made his presence felt, using the outside line to get past Bilinski and move to P7.

Villagómez leads on track as the 2026 F2 British GP settles

With the soft tyre runners back on the circuit and working to bring their fresh hard tyres up to temperature, Villagómez led the race on track. Dürksen sat second, 7.4 seconds back, with both drivers still to make their mandatory stops and running a time trial against the drivers who had already pitted. The strategic battle in the F2 British GP Feature Race was entering a decisive phase.

In the battle for the net lead, Maini held off Tsolov as the pair traded positions at the front. Tsolov pushed hard with DRS but could not find a way through, with Maini defending intelligently. Behind them, Câmara chased Dunne but found himself unable to close the gap significantly.

Bilinski made his presence felt again, passing Inthraphuvasak with a late move to reclaim a position. Further down the order, Varrone used DRS to get past Miyata and move up the field. Beganovic also closed in on Miyata and began piling on the pressure, with a DRS train forming behind the Hitech driver.

Montoya retired from the race. Contact with teammate Boya earlier in the race had damaged his rear suspension, and he eventually brought the car back to the pits and climbed out, bringing his afternoon to a premature end.

Tsolov hunts down Maini for the net race lead

With around seven laps remaining before the expected pit window for the hard tyre runners, Tsolov’s pace advantage over Maini became increasingly clear. He steadily closed the gap after deliberately dropping back, moved into DRS range, and launched several attacks. Maini defended well, first holding firm at Stowe before covering the inside again a lap later.

Tsolov finally made his move with a brilliant sweep around the outside at Copse. He carried the momentum through Maggotts and Becketts, holding the outside line before completing the overtake to take the net race lead. Maini left enough room, allowing both drivers to continue without contact after a hard but clean battle.

Once ahead, Tsolov immediately began pulling away as Villagómez and Dürksen approached their mandatory pit stops. With the alternative-strategy runners still leading on track, the fight for the overall victory in the F2 British GP Feature Race remained unresolved. Elsewhere, Colton Herta collected multiple track limits warnings and was shown the black-and-white flag.

Villagómez charges as Tsolov wins the 2026 F2 British GP Feature Race

Tsolov moved straight into qualifying mode and began building a gap as Villagómez prepared to pit.

Villagómez came in for his mandatory stop and rejoined seventh, behind Câmara. On fresh soft tyres he immediately posted the fastest lap of the race and cut through the field. He passed Câmara at Stowe, then swept past Dunne and Maini separately down the Wellington Straight with DRS to move onto the podium.

Minì also pitted in this phase but locked up on his out lap, compromising his fresh tyres and rejoining in P12. Boya collected a five-second penalty for pit lane speeding, while Varrone sustained front wing damage in contact with Inthraphuvasak and dropped down the order.

Tsolov held clear to the flag, extending his gap as Villagómez closed but ultimately ran out of laps.

The Bulgarian won the F2 British GP Feature Race to become the first driver in Formula 2 history to claim three consecutive victories. Villagómez took second, 3.2 seconds back, for his best result of the season. Maini completed the podium in third.

Dunne, Câmara and Mini completed the top 6.
