Formula E has been forced to cancel FP3 ahead of Round 15 at the 2026 Tokyo E-Prix double-header due to adverse weather conditions.
Originally scheduled for 13:30 local time, Formula E initially delayed FP3 after a heavy storm forced everyone to evacuate the paddock and the track. However, persistent rain left the Tokyo Street Circuit unsuitable for running, prompting Race Control to call off the 40-minute practice session for safety reasons.
A similar event took place earlier this weekend during FP1, as thunder and severe rain delayed the start of Friday’s opening practice by 15 minutes. The cancellation of FP3 means that drivers will head into Round 15 Qualifying without any prior on-track running on Sunday. With Qualifying up next at 15:40 local time, the decision to cancel FP3 at the Formula E Tokyo E-Prix leaves teams with no opportunity to adjust their cars before the competitive sessions begin.
Round 14 has reshuffled the championship order, making the upcoming Round 15 race crucial in the title fight. The Round 14 race saw late rain, penalties, and a complex Pit Boost strategy. However, through it all, it was CUPRA KIRO’s Dan Ticktum who claimed victory with a last-lap overtake for the lead as Jake Dennis and Nick Cassidy completed the podium.
With Wehrlein failing to finish in the classifications and Mitch Evans crossing the line P4, Evans has now moved ahead of the Porsche driver in the Drivers’ Standings. Holding a three-point lead, the Kiwi will be looking to extend his advantage in Round 15 ahead of the season finale in London, where he will aim to secure his first FIA Formula E World Championship.
