A recap of all three BTCC races at Oulton Park

The start of race 1, Tom Ingram started on pole following his sensational weekend at Thruxton. In lap 2, the action began with Sam Osborne and Stephen Jelley both landing themselves in the barrier. The rear of Max Hall’s Cupra was taken off by Dexter Patterson. James Dorlin and Dan Lloyd were in a race of their own, resulting in Dorlin on the grass. Daryl Deleon ended up going into the side of Aron Taylor-Smith, which ended up in a collision with Aiden Moffat. To conclude the lesser action packed race, Tom Ingram secured a win from pole, Dan Cammish finished in P2 and Chris Smiley rounded off the podium in P3.

Race 2 also saw Tom Ingram on pole, with Ash Sutton becoming a front runner right off the bat to try and take the P1 position from Ingram. Dan Rowbottom ended up mowing the lawn in a less notable incident. Nick Halstead kicked off the DNFs off the weekend, followed by a massive crash from Dan Lloyd who bounced from the wall of tyres and foam. Charles Rainford and Aron Taylor-Smith both ended up with a DNF, concluding their race 2 swiftly. After the multiple yellow flags, Ash Sutton secured a victory, followed by Adam Morgan and Tom Chilton.

To conclude the weekend, we saw Gordon Sheddon on pole. Chris Smiley DNFed, bringing the high of race 1 to an end. Tom Ingram was ran off the track by Mikey Doble, but managed to recover his race. Max Hall and Mikey Doble DNFed during this race, with Doble’s race coming to an end after Tom Chilton collided with the rear of his car, resulting in Chilton’s bonnet popping open, a common occurrence recently in the BTCC race weekends. To conclude the DNFs, unfortunately Nick Hamilton’s race came to an end after he ended up on the grass. Gordon Sheddon converted his pole into a perfect P1 finish for his first win since Croft 2022, with Ash Sutton securing P2, and Dan Rowbottom brought home another trophy for NAPA Racing.

Notable moment

Tom Ingram bagged a 35th career win this weekend at Oulton Park, a rather big achievement following his 100th career start just a few weeks back.

Reminder

After all the action this weekend, as a community we are reminded how much the drivers put on the line after Dan Lloyd’s rather scary crash. It’s important to recognise that motorsport comes with a lot of risk, but thankfully the layers of tyres and foam prevented serious harm.

Now we’re in the summer break for the Touring Car season, it’s all to play for when we return in August, returning from the break in Croft.
