After topping FP1 and FP2, Norwegian driver Dennis Hauger completed the hat-trick by taking pole position as he went fastest in Group 2, with the track drying out as qualifying went on. A lap of 1:12.770 was more than enough to top his segment as he finished almost 0.6s clear.
The star of qualifying, however, was Evagoras Papasavvas as he was second fastest and has put himself on the second row for Sunday’s race. Myles Rowe clocked the third fastest time in that group.
Rookie Max Taylor,.who has shown good speed throughout the weekend, was left heartbroken as he carried too much speed into the downhill section of turns 8, 9 and 10, ending up on the grass and getting beached in the gravel when the car came to a stop.
In Group 1, Caio Collet was the quickest driver when the track was far wetter. The Brazilian clocked a time of a 1:24.839, outpacing Lochie Hughes by 0.6s as they start P2 and P4. Bryce Aron, James Roe and Seb Murray will also start inside the top 10 after placing 3rd, 4th and 5th in the first Group.
Following strong pace in practice, Salvador de Alba could only manage P7 in Group 2, leaving him down in P13 on the grid for Sunday’s race.
Jack William Miller did not take part in qualifying after he was blocked by doing so following a strong sanction due to his behavior towards officials following the St. Pete round. He will be on the back row with Deegan.
Come rain or shine, Dennis Hauger is the man to beat on Sunday morning.
