Round 7 of the 2025 Indy NXT season is in the books as the race at Road America has been completed, view the full report and results below. Dennis Hauger started on pole with Caio Collet on the front row with him.
With plenty of long straights and full throttle zones down to turn 5, Collet kept attacking Hauger but the Norwegian driver held firm with late braking on the opening lap. Josh Pierson also fended off Lochie Hughes for 3rd after the Aussie had run wide in turn 6. Myles Rowe got up to P5.
After Salvador de Alba gained two spots on the first lap, Jack William Miller repassed him into turn 4. As the Mexican looked to get the move done again into 5, he went wide and allowed Hedge into 7th.
In turn 12 at Canada corner, de Alba and Missig went at it. There was slight contact as Missig ended up getting a bit of air. He dropped to 11th.
It was confirmed on lap 4 that push-to-pass was not working for all drivers, hurting anyone who wanted to make a move.
At turn 7, Jack William Miller got wide and found the grass, losing a spot to Hedge.
Hauget led Collet, Pierson, Hughes, Rowe, Hedge, Miller, de Alba, Aron and Sceats a quarter of the way into the race.
Jordan Missig looked to have overtaken Liam Sceats as they ran down to turn 5. However, late braking down the inside for Sceats saw him hang on to P10.
A difficult race continued for Missing as he ended up with a damaged front wing, and Seb Murray quickly took advantage of that into turn 1 with a feisty pass.
Rookie Papasavvas made a quality pass on Escotto into turn 5 for P13 on lap 9. He followed it up two laps later by overtaking Missig before turn 1 for 12th.
Towards the back, James Roe made moves as he passed Smith, Allaer and Koolen to move into P15. Replays showed Escotto had squeezed him on the kerb at turn 5, before he made his own error at turn 12.
Missig pitted for a new wing and dropped to the back.
On lap 16, a change for the lead took place. Caio Collet got a much better exit through turn 14, got in the slipstream and cleared Hauger into turn 1. The relentless pressure finally paid off.
With three laps left, Lochie Hughes started to put huge pressure on Josh Pierson. He resisted into Canada corner, before doing the same into turn 5 and turn 12 once again on the next lap.
Ultimately, however, Hughes made a critical move for his title hopes. As Pierson broke extremely deep into turn 5 as they went side-by-side, the Aussie let him run it wide and got him on the switchback for 3rd.
Myles Rowe resisted pressure from Callum Hedge for 5th.
At the front, Caio Collet took the chequered flag, beating Dennis Hauger by 1.7s in the end. He also clocked the fastest lap on a brilliant day for the Brazilian.
