British karting prospect Max Yuill will make his car-racing debut with Fortec Motorsports in the inaugural 2026 GB4 Championship Winter Series at Snetterton on 24–25 October.

The 15-year-old from Northampton joins the single-seater category following a promising karting career, which includes strong performances in British and international competitions. Most recently, he finished sixth in the 2026 British Kart Championship’s Senior X30 IAME division, competing against more experienced drivers despite being one of the youngest entrants.

Yuill has already begun preparing for the transition, completing his first tests in the Tatuus MSV GB4-025 with Fortec at Pembrey. He will now look to build on that experience during the four-race Winter Series as he takes the next step in his motorsport career.

Yuill prepares for first single-seater races with Fortec Motorsports

Yuill will make his competitive single-seater debut with Fortec Motorsports after beginning his preparations with the team in recent weeks. The British driver has already sampled the GB4 car at Pembrey, gaining his first experience of the machinery ahead of the Snetterton event.

The move represents an important milestone for Yuill, who has spent his racing career competing in karting. Although he has experience racing in challenging conditions throughout the year, he must now adapt to the demands of single-seater machinery, including different braking characteristics, aerodynamics and handling.

Nevertheless, Yuill enters the Winter Series with confidence in Fortec’s experience and record in junior single-seater racing. He also believes the October event provides a natural opportunity to begin his car-racing career.

“I’m really excited for this new chapter in my racing career and I’m looking forward to my first single-seater races in GB4 with Fortec Motorsports. The team has an amazing record in GB4 and single-seaters generally, so it’s going to be a great environment for me to make my first steps into car racing. We do a lot of winter racing in karting, so it feels natural making my car-racing debut at this time of year!”

The Snetterton weekend will give Yuill his first opportunity to assess his progress in competitive single-seater racing. Having already started adapting to the car through testing, he will aim to build confidence and gain valuable experience across the event.

Strong British and international karting results highlight Yuill’s potential

Yuill arrives in GB4 following an impressive 2026 British Kart Championship campaign in the Senior X30 IAME category. Despite competing as one of the youngest drivers on the grid, he established himself among the leading contenders throughout the season.

The Northampton-based racer delivered competitive performances at Whilton Mill, Larkhall, Rowrah and PFI, maintaining his involvement in a closely contested championship battle. He eventually finished sixth overall, demonstrating his ability to compete against more experienced rivals during his first year in the senior category.

His achievements followed several promising performances in international karting. In 2025, Yuill finished third at SKUSA SuperNats XXVIII, securing a podium during his final event as a junior competitor.

He has also competed in the IAME World Finals, IAME Euro Series and Kartmasters British Grand Prix, gaining experience against competitive fields in different racing environments.

These appearances have helped Yuill develop his racecraft and adaptability as he prepares to progress beyond karting. However, his first GB4 outing will introduce new challenges, particularly as he adjusts to the physical and technical demands of car racing.

Fortec confident following Yuill’s initial GB4 tests

Fortec Motorsports enters the Winter Series following a successful 2026 GB4 Championship campaign, which featured overall race victories, podium finishes and Rookie class success.

Thomas Ingram Hill led the team’s challenge in the main championship, finishing fourth in the Drivers’ standings after securing his maiden victory at Silverstone. Meanwhile, Franciszek Cegielski claimed the inaugural GB4 Rookie Title, completing a competitive first season in single-seaters.

The team’s experience developing young drivers should provide a strong foundation for Yuill as he makes the transition from karting.

Fortec Motorsports Team Principal Oliver Dutton expressed confidence in the 15-year-old’s potential following his initial testing programme. Dutton believes Yuill’s karting performances and early progress in the GB4 car suggest he can make a competitive start to his single-seater career.

“Max has already shown good potential in his GB4 tests with us, and the Winter Series at Snetterton is the ideal event for him to make his car-racing debut. His results in karting suggest he should make a strong debut, and we’re looking forward to working with him over the next few weeks to get him fully up to speed in single-seaters.”

With further preparations planned ahead of the event, Yuill will continue working alongside Fortec to develop his understanding of the car. The team’s established experience in GB4 will also provide valuable guidance as he prepares for his first competitive outings.

Snetterton Winter Series offers first competitive test

The inaugural GB4 Winter Series will take place at Snetterton on 24–25 October, providing drivers with an opportunity to gain additional single-seater experience before the 2027 season.

The event will feature four races across two days, with each day comprising a qualifying session and two races. The format will give Yuill multiple opportunities to develop his qualifying pace, experience race starts and compete against drivers with varying levels of single-seater experience.

For Fortec, the Winter Series also offers another opportunity to work with an emerging talent following its successful main championship campaign. The team will aim to build on its recent results while helping Yuill establish a foundation for his future in car racing.

Although the teenager has already demonstrated his competitiveness in karting, Snetterton will provide his first opportunity to apply those skills in a single-seater racing environment.

Having impressed during his initial tests with Fortec, Yuill will now look to make a positive start to his car-racing career as he joins the grid for the inaugural GB4 Winter Series.
