Kellymoss will return from the SRO America summer break with added motivation as the Wisconsin-based organisation prepares for its home event at Road America.

The team has developed from a small Porsche specialist into one of North America’s leading customer-racing operations. Today, it manages approximately 30 full-season entries across several championships while maintaining its focus on Porsche machinery, driver development and customer experience.

However, Road America carries significance beyond championship points. The event allows Kellymoss to unite its wider workforce, partners and paddock community while showcasing the people-first philosophy that has shaped more than three decades of success.

Kellymoss chooses Porsche specialisation over expansion

Kellymoss built its growth around a deliberate commitment to one manufacturer.

Rather than divide its attention among several brands, the team concentrated its resources on understanding Porsche machinery at every level. Consequently, it developed expertise across engineering, fabrication, race operations, driver development and bespoke vehicle construction.

Kellymoss co-owner and Chief Business Officer Victoria Thomas outlined the simplicity of that approach to SRO America.

“We chose to go deep, not wide,” she said. “Our focus is Porsche. Period.”

That focus allowed Kellymoss to develop extensive knowledge across multiple generations of Porsche race cars. Moreover, the organisation strengthened its position within the manufacturer’s North American customer-racing structure.

Nevertheless, Thomas believes machinery and technical knowledge alone cannot create sustained success. Instead, she credits the organisation’s engineers, technicians and support personnel with transforming its resources into results.

“Success in motorsports is never about one individual,” Thomas explained. “It comes from bringing together exceptional engineers, technicians, strategists, fabricators and support staff who are relentless in their pursuit of improvement.”

Therefore, Kellymoss has continued investing in its workforce alongside its cars, facilities and technical programmes.

Extensive data strengthens Kellymoss’ Porsche programmes

Kellymoss’ large racing operation gives the team access to an extensive volume of information.

By running approximately 30 full-season entries, the organisation can compare performance across drivers, circuits and Porsche platforms. As a result, its engineers can identify patterns and investigate problems using a broader evidence base.

However, Thomas stressed that data only creates value when a team interprets and applies it effectively.

“We see more, we compare more, and we investigate at a very deep level,” she revealed. “But having data is one thing, doing the work is another. You have to turn data into insight, and insight into speed.”

Kellymoss must therefore combine information with detailed analysis, communication and practical engineering work.

Furthermore, the team’s scale allows each programme to contribute to the organisation’s wider understanding. Lessons from one car can support another, while comparisons between entries can accelerate development throughout a race weekend.

Porsche relationship carries wider responsibility

Kellymoss has worked alongside Porsche throughout much of its history.

The team has competed with several generations of the manufacturer’s race cars while helping drivers progress through its customer-racing ladder. In turn, Porsche’s technical support, parts infrastructure and development pathways have enabled Kellymoss to expand its programmes.

However, Thomas views the relationship as more than a supply arrangement.

“Every time we compete, work with a customer, host a partner or welcome a fan, we represent the Porsche brand,” she said. “We take that responsibility very seriously.”

Consequently, Kellymoss applies Porsche’s standards beyond on-track performance. The team also considers its presentation, hospitality, communication and customer relationships part of that responsibility.

That approach has helped the organisation establish itself as one of Porsche’s prominent North American customer teams while retaining its own identity and culture.

Scale creates opportunity and operational pressure

Kellymoss fields several entries across GT World Challenge America and Pirelli GT4 America, with each programme carrying different sporting and commercial objectives.

The organisation must therefore coordinate numerous drivers, engineers, crew members and customers without allowing its standards to fall. Detailed planning and clearly defined responsibilities play a central role in maintaining that consistency.

At the same time, multiple entries create a competitive advantage by increasing the information available to the team.

“We benefit from the scale of our operation,” she said. “Multiple cars allow us to gather more data, accelerate learning and continuously improve while ensuring every customer receives the same level of commitment and professionalism. The challenge is to make certain that scale creates an advantage without ever compromising attention to detail.”

Kellymoss consequently relies on experienced leadership while empowering engineers and crew members to manage their respective programmes.

Moreover, the team must ensure that every customer receives individual attention despite the organisation’s size. That balance between scale and detail remains central to its operating model.

Road America represents a personal homecoming

Although Kellymoss competes across North America, Road America holds a unique position within the team’s calendar.

The circuit sits close to its Fitchburg base and has featured throughout the company’s history. Therefore, the event allows team members who do not regularly travel to races to see the result of their work first-hand.

“Road America is deeply personal to Kellymoss,” Thomas stated. “It is our home track and has been part of the company’s history for decades. Beyond the competition, it is one of the best opportunities each year for our entire organization to experience our why. Bringing members of our broader team to Road America allows them to experience that connection firsthand and see the impact of the work they contribute every day. That is incredibly special and important to us.”

The weekend will consequently connect Kellymoss’ racing operation with the wider group that supports its preparation, fabrication and business activities.

Furthermore, the event gives customers and partners an opportunity to experience the team’s home environment while watching its cars compete.

Kellymoss extends its community beyond the circuit

Kellymoss also uses the Road America weekend to strengthen relationships throughout the paddock.

Each year, Thomas and fellow co-owner Andy Kilcoyne welcome competitors, crew members and guests to their nearby home. Although teams fight intensely on track, Thomas believes stronger personal relationships can improve cooperation throughout the sport.

“We believe motorsports is both highly competitive and deeply collaborative,” she emphasized. “Building stronger relationships away from the race track creates greater cooperation throughout the paddock, and that ultimately supports stronger competition on track. Professionally, Road America is one of the most important weekends of our season. Personally, it is an opportunity to celebrate the people, relationships, and culture that make our sport so special.”

The gathering has also developed a distinctive attraction after Kilcoyne installed a full-service ice cream station with approximately 25 toppings.

“It’s a simple gesture,” Thomas said with a smile, “but it’s a really fun way to bring people together.”

While the tradition appears informal, it reflects Kellymoss’ emphasis on community. It gives drivers, engineers, competitors and guests space to interact away from the pressure of the race weekend.

Home-race emotion cannot disrupt execution

Road America also begins an important phase of Kellymoss’ championship campaigns.

With SRO America entering the second half of its season, the team must maximise each opportunity to pursue victories and titles. However, the significance of its home event could introduce additional pressure.

Thomas therefore wants the organisation to maintain the same disciplined approach it applies at every circuit.

“The emotion of a home event cannot change the way we approach the race,” she insisted. “We still have to execute the fundamentals, make intelligent decisions and put each car in the best possible position to succeed.”

Kellymoss will need to manage strategy, pit execution and driver performance while handling additional guests and commitments throughout the weekend.

Nevertheless, its detailed preparation should allow the racing programmes to remain focused while the wider organisation embraces the occasion.

Customer racing now extends beyond results

Thomas has also watched customer racing become increasingly complex.

Drivers and customers still expect competitive cars and strong engineering support. However, they now also value coaching, hospitality, communication, media content and commercial opportunities.

Therefore, modern teams must create a complete programme rather than focus solely on lap times.

“GT racing has become increasingly competitive, technical and commercially sophisticated,” she detailed. “The race car remains at the center of everything we do, but today’s racing organizations must create value well beyond the checkered flag.”

Kellymoss has responded by combining its racing expertise with wider customer and partner services.

At Road America, those elements will come together as guests experience the technical, sporting and community sides of the organisation in one environment.

Kellymoss pursues integrated partnerships

The team applies a similar philosophy to its commercial relationships.

Rather than treat sponsors as external contributors, Kellymoss aims to incorporate them into its broader community. As a result, partners can interact with the team, customers and supporters while experiencing the racing programme directly.

“The most valuable partnerships are not transactional,” Thomas observed. “They are integrated into the broader Kellymoss community and create meaningful value for both organizations.”

Road America provides a particularly strong setting for that integration. Partners can watch the team operate at its home circuit while meeting the people responsible for its competitive and technical work.

Moreover, SRO America’s open paddock gives guests close access to the teams, cars and personnel throughout the event.

Thomas hopes fans discover the people behind Kellymoss

Kellymoss wants its home event to create a lasting impression on both established supporters and newcomers.

While its Porsche entries remain the most visible part of the organisation, Thomas hopes visitors also recognise the teamwork, innovation and relationships that support every appearance.

“If they spend time with Kellymoss, I hope they leave understanding that motorsports is about much more than racing,” she concluded. “It is about innovation, teamwork, relationships and creating opportunities for people to become part of an extraordinary community. Whether someone arrives as a lifelong fan or is attending their first race, we want them to leave excited to come back.”

Road America will therefore combine competitive ambition with a broader celebration of Kellymoss’ identity.

The team will pursue victories and championship progress when racing resumes. However, it will also use its home weekend to recognise the workforce, customers, partners and paddock relationships that have helped turn a specialised Porsche operation into one of North America’s leading customer-racing organisations.
