Noel León has been disqualified from the F2 Feature Race at the 2026 Belgian GP, while Dino Beganovic has received a post-race penalty following separate stewarding decisions.
The penalties were confirmed after the Feature Race, with León removed from the classification for a breach involving radio equipment during the red flag period. Beganovic, meanwhile, received a five-second time penalty for moving before the start signal.
León excluded over red flag breach
León’s disqualification came after officials investigated an incident in the pit lane during the red flag period.
According to F2, the matter involved a non-operational person using a headset fitted with a microphone, which breached Article 21.5 and Appendix 5 of the FIA F2 Sporting Regulations.
After the F2 2026 Belgian GP Feature Race, the Stewards spoke to a Campos Racing representative. León had already left the circuit, while teammate Nikola Tsolov was also spoken to as part of the process.
The team representative explained that the person involved was a guest of the team and had accidentally taken the wrong type of headset. However, the Stewards ruled that Campos remained responsible for ensuring that any radio equipment given to non-operational personnel or guests complied with the regulations.
Campos points deduction suspended
The Stewards also determined that the guest was linked only to Car 5, meaning the disqualification applied solely to León rather than both Campos entries.
Campos Racing also received a 25-point championship deduction. However, that penalty has been suspended, provided the team does not commit another breach of the same article at any remaining FIA F2 event during the 2026 season.
The decision still marks a costly end to León’s Spa Feature Race, as he loses his result from the classification.
Beganovic penalised for start infringement
Beganovic also faced post-race action after the Stewards reviewed his start.
Officials examined video evidence and telemetry before deciding that the DAMS Lucas Oil driver had spun his tyres and moved significantly after the third light, but before the start signal.
Beganovic later stalled and had to be pushed into the pit lane before retiring from the race. Because his race had already ended, the Stewards applied the lowest available sanction for the infringement: a five-second time penalty.
Spa Feature Race results amended
The decisions altered the final outcome of the F2 Feature Race at the 2026 Belgian GP after the chequered flag.
León lost his classification entirely, while Beganovic’s penalty formally punished his pre-start movement despite his retirement. For Campos, the suspended points deduction adds an extra warning for the remainder of the campaign, with any repeat breach now carrying wider championship consequences.
