Nikita Johnson has been confirmed to race for Hitech TGR in the upcoming F3 British GP at Silverstone. This will be alongside last weekend’s Feature Race winner Martinius Stenshorne and Gerrard Xie, as confirmed by the team today.
Johnson featured at last weekend’s F3 Austrian GP with Dams Lucas Oil. He stepped in for Nikola Lacorte, who received a race ban after reaching the maximum number of penalty points during the Spanish round.
After the announcement, Johnson expressed his readiness to compete at this level following his debut in Austria and shared his excitement about progressing within the Hitech environment.
“I want to thank Hitech for the faith they have shown in promoting me to their Formula 3 team, which has enjoyed so much success. I feel ready to compete at this level and after a strong debut in the series last week, I’m excited to step up within the Hitech environment and help the team achieve its goals for the second half of the season.”
Hitech’s Team Manager Paul Bellringer on the addition
Hitech Team Manager Paul Bellringer expressed his satisfaction with Johnson’s addition for the 2025 F3 British GP. He noted the 17-year-old’s impressive success across multiple single-seater championships.
“We are pleased to see Nikita make the step up from our GB3 team to Hitech’s Formula 3 line-up at this pivotal point in the season. At the age of 17, he already has a remarkable record of success in multiple single-seater championships, and his ability was on full display in Austria last weekend during his impressive F3 debut.”
Johnson finished the F3 Austrian GP in P22 but gained valuable experience behind the wheel of an F3 car. This experience will aid his development throughout the rest of the season.
“It is intended that Nikita will still feature during the remainder of the GB3 season, but we are delighted to provide him with the opportunity to progress within the Hitech team and unlock even more of his talent.
Previous experience in GB3 and other single-seater championships
Johnson currently competes in the GB3 championship. He sits in 9th overall with 113 points for the season. The American debuted in 2024, scoring his maiden victory at Zandvoort, and became the youngest ever race winner in GB3 history.
Prior to this, he competed in the USF Pro 2000 series, finishing as the championship runner-up in 2024. He achieved 9 wins, 10 podiums and seven pole positions over the series.
In 2023, at the age of 15, he was the 2023 USF 2000 Runner Up. He claimed 8 podiums, including a victory in the opening round in his home town St Petersburg, Florida. With an addition of a win in the final 5 races of the 2023 USF Pro 2000 Championship, Johnson became the youngest race winner in the series history. He is also the only driver to score victories at all three levels of the USF Pro Championships.
Johnson replacing Carrasquedo Jr
Johnson is taking over the car previously occupied by Jesse Carrasquedo Jr, who was on a two-round deal. Carrasquedo replaced Joshua Dufek post the F3 Monaco GP, after his lacklustre performance this season.
“We would like to congratulate Jesse Carrasquedo Jr on his own very positive debut in Spain and Austria, and we wish him well for the next stage of his career.”
