As reported by Sportscar365, Rebel Rock Racing will make its debut in the 2026 GTWC America powered by AWS this weekend at COTA. The team, long associated with the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, now steps up to GT3 competition with its Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo.
Robin Liddell and Frank DePew will share driving duties in the Pro-Am class. This move signals a significant milestone for the team as it transitions into top-tier GT racing.
Expanded grid strengthens competition with key returns and driver changes
The entry list for the second round of the season has grown to 22 cars, improving on the 20-car list — and 18 starters — seen at the season opener at Sonoma Raceway. As a result, the championship gains renewed depth and competitiveness.
Furthermore, Triarsi Competizione joins the Pro-Am category with a Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo driven by Riccardo Agostini and Sebastian Mascaro. Meanwhile, Lone Star Racing returns to the grid in the Am class with its Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, piloted by Marc Austin and Jason Golan.
In addition, Kellymoss will field its No. 88 Porsche 911 GT3 R for Loek Hartog and John Gilliland. The car missed the Sonoma round following a testing accident, but the team now returns ready to compete.
Another notable change sees TR3 Racing revise its driver line-up. Daniel Morad replaces Will Bamber and will partner Brayton Williams for the remainder of the season, marking Morad’s anticipated return to SRO America competition.
Championship battles take shape
As the season progresses, JMF Motorsports drivers Michai Stevens and Mikael Grenier lead the standings by seven points. They currently hold an advantage over the AF Corse pairing of Frederik Schandorff and Matias Perez Companc, who secured a runner-up finish in the opening three-hour race.
In Pro-Am, GMG Racing drivers Tom Sargent and Kyle Washington top the leaderboard. Notably, Sargent delivered a standout performance at Sonoma by setting the fastest lap in both qualifying and the race.
Weekend schedule and broadcast details
Track action begins on Friday with a 90-minute test session, followed by a Bronze test and opening practice later in the day. Saturday will feature two further practice sessions, allowing teams to fine-tune their setups.
Qualifying takes place on Sunday morning, leading into Round 2 of the championship at 12:30 p.m. CST. Fans can watch the race live via the series’ official YouTube and Twitch platforms, ensuring global access to the action.
With an expanded grid, fresh talent, and evolving rivalries, the COTA round promises a compelling chapter in the GT World Challenge America season.
