SRO Motorsports Group has confirmed that Snetterton will host its 2027 UK season launch on 31 March and 1 April, bringing together the British GT Championship and Ginetta’s three UK championships for two days of pre-season preparations. The event will take place on the Norfolk circuit’s full 300 layout, marking the venue’s return as host of British GT’s annual media day for the first time since 2020.
The two-day programme will feature dedicated track running, promotional photography and media activities as teams prepare for the upcoming campaign. British GT will take centre stage on Wednesday, 31 March, before the Ginetta Junior Championship, Ginetta GT Academy and Ginetta GT Championship take over on Thursday, 1 April.
The announcement comes ahead of a historic season opener at Snetterton on 10–11 April, when the circuit will host the opening British GT races for the first time in the championship’s history. All three Ginetta categories will also begin their respective seasons at the venue, making the launch an important opportunity for competitors to complete their final preparations.
British GT returns to Snetterton for first media day since 2020
British GT teams will begin the 2027 season launch on Wednesday, 31 March, with a full day of testing on Snetterton’s 300 layout. The programme will also include promotional tracking shots and a media lunch, providing opportunities for teams, drivers and championship representatives to engage with the media ahead of the new campaign.
The event represents a return to familiar territory for British GT, which last held its annual media day at Snetterton in 2020. More recently, Silverstone hosted the 2026 pre-season gathering, making the decision to return to Norfolk a notable change in the championship’s preparations.
Snetterton’s selection also reflects its expanded role within the 2027 calendar. The circuit will host the opening two rounds of the championship just ten days after the media day, allowing teams to gather valuable information ahead of the first competitive weekend.
Furthermore, the full-day test will provide an opportunity to evaluate setups and complete essential running before the season begins. With the championship preparing for another competitive campaign across its GT3 and GT4 categories, teams will aim to maximise their track time ahead of the opening races.
Ginetta championships take centre stage on 1 April
The second day of the SRO UK season launch will focus on Ginetta’s three domestic championships, with the Junior Championship, GT Academy and GT Championship taking to the circuit on Thursday, 1 April.
The event follows the expansion of SRO Motorsports Group’s involvement in Ginetta’s UK racing operations, which brought the three championships under its management for the 2026 season. The arrangement strengthened their relationship with British GT and established a more integrated national racing programme.
All three categories will continue supporting British GT at its five domestic events in 2027, while also contesting additional rounds as part of their respective calendars.
The revised 2027 GB4 Championship calendar also places Snetterton at the beginning of its campaign, further strengthening the venue’s position as an important destination for British junior motorsport during April.
Meanwhile, Ginetta’s official 2027 championship calendar confirms that all three categories will begin their seasons at Snetterton on 10–11 April, providing additional significance to their participation in the launch.
Snetterton prepares to host historic British GT season opener
The decision to hold the season launch at Snetterton comes as British GT prepares for a significant change to its traditional calendar structure. The Norfolk circuit will open the championship for the first time, replacing Silverstone as the venue for the opening round.
The season will begin on 10–11 April with two one-hour sprint races, marking the start of an eight-race campaign across six events. The championship will subsequently visit Oulton Park, Spa-Francorchamps, Silverstone and Brands Hatch before concluding at Donington Park in October.
Snetterton’s original 2027 date was scheduled for 24–25 April, but organisers subsequently brought the event forward by two weeks to avoid a clash with the FIA World Endurance Championship’s return to Silverstone.
The revised British GT calendar published by championship organisers also moved the Silverstone 500 to 7–8 August, while retaining the remaining venues and established race formats.
By hosting the season launch shortly before the opening event, Snetterton will provide competitors with an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the circuit under representative conditions. The arrangement also creates continuity between the pre-season gathering and the first championship races.
Fans can attend both days free of charge
SRO UK has confirmed that spectators will be able to attend both days of the 2027 season launch without paying an admission fee, offering an opportunity to see the British GT and Ginetta teams completing their final preparations.
The two-day programme will provide fans with an early look at the competing cars and drivers before the championships return to Snetterton for their opening race weekend. Furthermore, the separate days dedicated to British GT and Ginetta will allow spectators to follow the different categories throughout the event.
Organisers have yet to publish the detailed track schedule or ticket arrangements, although they will confirm further information closer to the event.
The official announcement from British GT confirms free attendance on both days, with additional information regarding the event programme still to follow.
With Snetterton preparing to host its first British GT season opener and the accompanying Ginetta championships, the 2027 SRO UK launch will provide an important starting point for the upcoming national racing season.
