MP Motorsport has confirmed that René Lammers will serve as its official FIA Formula 3 (F3) reserve driver for the 2027 season, continuing his relationship with the Dutch outfit as he prepares for a potential full-time step into the championship in 2028.
The announcement provides another opportunity for the 18-year-old to continue his development within MP Motorsport, having previously competed with the team in Spanish Formula 4 and Eurocup-3.
Although MP has confirmed his reserve role for 2027, the organisation has not announced a full-time F3 race seat for Lammers in 2028.
Lammers continues longstanding relationship with MP Motorsport
Lammers has established himself within MP Motorsport’s junior single-seater programme, having joined the team for the 2024 Spanish F4 Championship. He finished 13th in his debut campaign before making considerable progress in 2025.
The Dutch driver claimed four victories and nine podium finishes during his second Spanish F4 season, eventually finishing fourth in the Drivers’ Championship.
His performances subsequently earned him a promotion to Eurocup-3 with MP Motorsport for 2026, allowing him to continue progressing through the single-seater ladder.
Lammers has demonstrated competitive pace throughout his rookie Eurocup-3 campaign, including victory during the final race at Jerez in September. He also gained additional Formula Regional experience through an appearance with CL Motorsport at Imola.
MP Motorsport completes 2027 F3 preparations
Lammers’ new position comes after MP Motorsport finalised its three-driver race line-up for the 2027 FIA F3 Championship.
The Dutch outfit will field Matteo De Palo, Maciej Gładysz and Zhenrui Chi, combining two returning F3 competitors with a Formula Regional graduate.
The team finished third in the 2026 Teams’ Championship with 208 points, securing its only victory of the season through Tuukka Taponen at Madrid.
Lammers’ appointment adds another driver to MP’s preparations beyond its confirmed race line-up, while maintaining continuity with an organisation that has supported much of his single-seater career.
The team has not yet detailed his reserve responsibilities or confirmed his racing programme for 2027.
With MP identifying the appointment as preparation for 2028, Lammers will aim to build on his experience as he works towards the next stage of his career.
