Rodin Motorsport’s Martinius Stenshorne heads into the fifth round of the 2026 F2 season in Barcelona with high hopes, as the Norwegian looks to extend his points-scoring streak. Since Montreal, where he claimed his maiden F2 victory, he has seemingly found strong momentum and continues to demonstrate consistency when battling inside the top ten.

Ahead of the weekend, Stenshorne spoke to Pit Debrief and other media outlets during a virtual media session, where he previewed his goals for the round. After a double points finish in Monaco, he sees no reason why their strong form cannot continue.

“Obviously now coming here with a bit more experience, I think we’re quite ready. Obviously, the rounds we did out of Europe went at least very good speed, even though the results weren’t always there. So yeah, coming here now to Europe, I don’t see any reason why we can’t continue going strong.”

“I’m happy to have a quick teammate” — Stenshorne on working with Dunne

Despite a rocky start to the season, when he and Alex Dunne crashed during the Melbourne Feature Race, Stenshorne reflected on how he has been settling in and the dynamics within Rodin Motorsport. Noting how competitive the car has been this year, the 20 year-old shared how valuable it has been to have a teammate like Dunne alongside him at the team.

“Yeah, it’s been good so far working with Rodin. Obviously, the car has been very good this year so far. And also having Alex [Dunne] as my teammate is good, I think. Learning from him, obviously, he has a year on his back already now, so he knows how things are.”, Stenshorne said.

“Which I think also helps, just to have some references and stuff. And yeah, apart from that, I think how the teams work are quite similar. Obviously, some small differences here and there, but overall, it’s not been too big of a jump.”

When asked about the importance of having a teammate with prior experience, the Norwegian explained: “Yeah, it’s helping for sure. Obviously, now we did a couple of rounds where they haven’t been. But I think even them already having a bit of experience helps them to maybe get up to speed a bit quicker.”

He explained that Dunne’s speed has been key for comparison and learning, adding that there are clear positives to take away from working alongside a more experienced driver.

“So just having a bit of reference, some places, and obviously Alex [Dunne] is very quick as well, so we can compare quite a lot, both driving-wise and car-wise. So I think there’s just positives to take away from that. I’m happy to have a quick teammate.”

Clean and well-executed sessions key in Barcelona

The fifth round of the 2026 F2 season at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya marks a return to familar ground for the majority of the grid. At a circuit where many drivers have tested and raced at throughout their junior careers, Stenshorne believes that the key to success will be clean sessions and races.

“I don’t think there’s so much to add. But yeah, it’s just mainly about, like I said, everyone knows the track.”, Stenshorne said.

“So trying to have a clean session, clean races as well. And yeah, I think we all know quite well this track. So just using what we already know and focusing on ourselves and hoping for a good result.”

Echoing similar sentiments to Rafael Câmara, when asked what makes the track so enjoyable and about his fondest memories there, he pointed to his rookie F3 season, where he achieved his best qualifying result.

The Norwegian said: “Yeah, like Rafa [Câmara] said, I think the track is quite enjoyable. Obviously, it’s going to be nice coming back to the track where you can maybe overtake again. Hopefully, we are the ones overtaking, I’m looking forward to that. Highlight on this track is maybe first year in F3. It was my best quali result. So yeah, I would say that.”

Stenshorne: “Clean weekends” and “keep scoring well” is the goal

When asked by Pit Debrief about the biggest misconceptions people have about Formula 2 from a driver’s perspective, Stenshorne explained: “Maybe for me, well, not so much more to be honest. One thing maybe is how warm it can get in the car during the long races. For example, in Miami, where we had some warm races. It can be quite physical as well, especially for me from Norway. I’m not really used to the heat, so it gets quite warm.”

However, looking ahead, the Norwegian’s consistency has clearly paid off, as he currently sits 3rd in the Drivers’ Standings with 48 points. Reflecting on how his season as unfolded so far, he emphasised that the focus moving forward will be on executing each weekend cleanly.

“Yeah, it’s good to be taking points in the last four races. I think we could have done that also in the first two rounds, to be honest, if it wasn’t for the issue in Australia we had and also the penalty we got in Miami.”, he said. “So yeah, I think if we just have clean weekends, we can keep scoring well and that’s the goal going forward.”
