Saturday at the Berlin E-Prix was frantic for Dan Ticktum. The day held promise for the CUPRA KIRO driver after a strong Qualifying performance. Unfortunately, bad luck struck the driver, leaving him with no points.

The British driver currently lies 11th in the Drivers’ Standings with 22 points. His best finish of the season came in the form of a P4 last time out in Madrid. This weekend, he will undoubtedly hope to bounce back with a stronger position.

Ticktum about Race 1 of Berlin E-Prix: “yet another bout of bad luck”

The Brit made it to the semi-finals and lined up fourth on the grid for Race 1. The first part of the race looked bright for Ticktum. During the first half, he managed to stay within the top ten and looked set for a high points finish. Taking the Pit Boost on Lap 19, he soared higher and saw the potential for podium contention.

However, forces outside of the racer’s control were not on his side. Ticktum began tumbling down the order as a result of a technical issue. After a loss in power, the CUPRA KIRO driver was forced to retire.

“A frustrating one today. I was running well, saving some energy in the top 10 after starting fourth. The Pit Boost strategy was really good, and we rejoined the race in a net top five position, and I was up on energy on most of the cars around me.

The team did everything right and we were on for a likely podium, and then I had a technical issue on the car which I couldn’t clear. I fell out of the points and that was the end of my race, so yet another bout of bad luck.”

As this Formula E weekend is a double header, Ticktum has a chance to bounce back for Race 2. After a strike of bad luck, the team would hope the second race is brighter for the driver.
