Trident Motorsport and Ricky Flynn Motorsport (RFM) have announced a new strategic collaboration. It promises to create a clear pathway for young drivers as they progress from karting into single-seater racing. The partnership creates a structured path from international karting directly into Trident’s brand-new Formula 4 programme, which will launch in 2026. This milestone expands the Italian team’s successful F2, F3, and Formula Regional operations into the first level of single-seater racing.
For RFM, the agreement further cements its reputation as one of the most influential teams in karting. The British team has been a benchmark in international karting. They have won multiple World and European titles. It has seen five of its alumni graduate to Formula 1 in recent years. The five being Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri, Guanyu Zhou, Jack Doohan, and Logan Sargeant.
Trident, meanwhile, has long been involved in junior motorsport and has recently dominated Formula 3, winning three consecutive Drivers’ Championships. By joining forces, the two organisations are offering drivers a clear and competitive route from karting to single-seaters.
A developmental path
This new initiative is about more than expanding programmes – it is about continuity. RFM nurtures young drivers, guiding them from OK Junior into OK Senior karting categories. Now, instead of facing uncertainty when moving from karts to cars, drivers can progress steadily into Trident’s Formula 4 team.
Additionally, the collaboration also reflects the completion of Trident’s driver development ladder. With F4 as the entry, followed by F3, F2, and Formula Regional, the team supports drivers through every development stage.
Shared vision for guiding talent
Trident team owner Maurizio Salvadori emphasised the natural connection between the two organisations.
“I am delighted about this agreement with Ricky Flynn Motorsport. Having spent time in karting paddocks recently, I’ve become aware of the many top-level teams, but with Ricky, a special connection was immediately established. We share a common vision for how to develop this collaboration, and the partnership became obvious and immediate. The history and successes of their team are well known to all, and I hope that this partnership can offer new growth opportunities to young talents, helping them take the right next steps in their careers.”
For Ricky Flynn, the partnership is also deeply personal. He explained his concern about how drivers transition after karting, and why this partnership reassures him.
“I’m very happy and excited that Trident and RFM have come to an agreement and made a collaboration going forward. Trident Motorsport is a leading team in the world of all junior formula categories. After meeting with the Trident personnel, it became clear straight away that they have the same goals and motivation as I do and want to nurture and further the development of young drivers’ careers as they move up, it was always a worry and concern of mine that they would not be guided properly. Now with this connection, I feel extremely comfortable and satisfied that all the hard work RFM has put into the drivers’ development will be continued to the highest level with Trident Motorsport.”
Flynn’s statement emphasized the partnership’s main purpose: to provide continuity and ensure young drivers’ karting experience translates effectively into their car racing careers.
