The 23-lap 2026 Formula E Madrid E-Prix race began at 15:05 local time with Nick Cassidy starting from pole alongside Nyck de Vries. Cassidy made a clean start and held the lead, while António Félix da Costa immediately pressured de Vries for second. Early moves saw Dan Ticktum and Pascal Wehrlein climb to fourth and fifth after passing Edoardo Mortara. At the back, Zane Maloney dropped down after serving an early stop-and-go penalty.

Drama struck when de Vries lost his front wing in an incident and fell down the order, later receiving a five-second penalty. By Lap 4, Cassidy, Wehrlein and Ticktum formed a tight leading group. Felipe Drugovich became the first to deploy ATTACK MODE on Lap 5 and briefly took the lead before dropping back once it expired. Meanwhile, Oliver Rowland received a stop-and-go penalty for overpower at the start.

Pepe Martí thrilled the home crowd by charging through the field using ATTACK MODE and taking the lead on Lap 10, though he later lost ground after pitting. Pit Boost phases shuffled the order, with several frontrunners cycling through the pits. Lucas di Grassi and later Maximilian Günther each took turns at the front as strategies unfolded.

By Lap 16, Günther led ahead of da Costa and Wehrlein. Sébastien Buemi climbed to fourth but struggled with energy limitations. In the closing stages, most drivers deployed their final ATTACK MODE, setting up an intense fight at the front.

On Lap 21, Ticktum briefly moved into second, but Mitch Evans surged forward late in the race. On the final lap, da Costa held his nerve to secure victory, with Evans finishing second. Wehrlein snatched third at the line, overtaking Ticktum in the closing moments.
