MLT Motorsports has confirmed an ambitious driver line-up for the 2026 season. The team will compete across the full Racing America Formula Ladder, including the Ligier Junior Formula Championship, Formula 4 United States (F4 U.S.) Championship and Formula Regional Americas Championship (FRAC).

Previously focused on Formula 4, the team now takes a significant step forward by fielding drivers at every level of the ladder. This expansion follows a strong 2025 campaign, where MLT Motorsports secured the Driver Vice Championship and finished third in the Team standings.

“We’re excited to get the 2026 season underway and have drivers competing at all three levels of Racing America’s Formula Ladder,” said Eric VanBibber, General Manager of MLT Motorsports. “We had a successful season in 2025 with Alex Popow Jr. in F4 U.S., so to expand the program to include FR Americas and Ligier JFC is something we’re excited about. Edward, Cole and Jonathan are all talented drivers, and we’re looking forward to working with them this year.”

As a result, the team enters 2026 with both confidence and a clear development strategy.

Edward Kennedy targets Ligier JFC success

Edward Kennedy will represent MLT Motorsports in the Ligier Junior Formula Championship’s Gen 2 class. He will drive the No. 30 Ligier JS F422.

Kennedy has already built an impressive karting résumé. Notably, he became the youngest driver in Canadian karting history to qualify for the World Championships in two different engine categories at just 10 years old. Since then, he has claimed multiple karting titles while competing across North America and Europe. Moreover, Kennedy has spent the past 18 months testing with MLT Motorsports and racing in regional formula events, which should aid his transition into the championship.

Cole Medeiros steps Into F4 U.S.

Cole Medeiros will take on the Formula 4 United States Championship in the No. 77 Ligier JS F422.

Following a dominant 2025 karting season, Medeiros arrives with strong credentials. His campaign included appearances at major international events such as the SKUSA SuperNationals, the RMC Grand Finals in Bahrain and the ROKCup Super Final in Italy. In addition, Medeiros will run a dual programme in 2026 by also competing in USF Juniors, further accelerating his development.

Jonathan Cottrill moves up to FR Americas

Jonathan Cottrill returns to MLT Motorsports and steps up to the Formula Regional Americas Championship (FRAC). He will drive the No. 75 Ligier JS F3.

Cottrill already has experience with the team, having joined for the 2025 F4 U.S. season finale at Barber Motorsports Park. There, he secured consecutive top-10 finishes, demonstrating consistency and potential. Consequently, his promotion to Formula Regional marks a natural progression within the team’s structure.

MLT Motorsports building a complete development pathway in 2026

By placing drivers at every stage of the Racing America Formula Ladder, MLT Motorsports has created a clear and structured pathway for talent progression. Furthermore, this approach allows the team to nurture drivers from entry-level competition through to higher tiers of single-seater racing.

With Kennedy, Medeiros and Cottrill leading the programme, MLT Motorsports positions itself as a growing force in junior formula racing for the 2026 season.
