Lucas Fluxá emerged as one of the biggest beneficiaries of a chaotic conclusion to Race 2 at Silverstone, securing a hard-fought and unexpected GB3 podium. The Xcel Motorsport driver delivered a measured and intelligent performance, positioning himself perfectly to capitalise when incidents unfolded ahead.
While others battled intensely in the closing stages, Fluxá remained composed and strategic. Consequently, he converted a tense final lap into a valuable top-three finish, continuing his strong early-season form.
Surprise GB3 result sparks celebrations at Silverstone for Fluxá
Fluxá admitted that the podium came as a surprise, especially given how late in the race the decisive moment occurred. Nevertheless, the result triggered immediate celebrations among his closest supporters.
“Yeah, definitely an unexpected podium. My parents, they were watching it from the hotel. And obviously, it was on the second part of the last lap. It was unexpected, but I managed to get it.”
The timing of the move made the achievement even more dramatic. As a result, Fluxá added another memorable moment to his growing list of accomplishments.
Calm approach proves decisive in chaotic battle
As the race reached its climax, multiple drivers fought aggressively for position, creating the conditions for mistakes and contact. However, Fluxá chose a different approach, prioritising patience over risk.
“I just tried to keep the mind cool. I knew something was going to happen because it was really close racing. So just waited behind a bit, wasn’t overpushing, wanted to save some tyres for the last laps. And yeah, that’s just what we did. We just stayed back, saved some tyres, and then let all the chaos happen and just drove through.”
This strategy paid off. By preserving his tyres and avoiding unnecessary battles, he placed himself in the ideal position to take advantage when opportunities emerged. Therefore, his disciplined drive proved just as important as outright pace.
Hard work and transition fuel progress
Fluxá also highlighted the effort behind his recent improvement, pointing to both personal dedication and team support. His transition back to single-seaters has required adaptation, but steady progress has followed.
“Just hard work, to be honest. We’ve been working with the team really hard. They’ve definitely been helping a lot in the last few months to make this step because we come from LMP3 also, so they’ve helped me make that step a bit smaller, coming from the LMP3 to the single-seaters again.”
“So, a big thank you to the team for helping me. And yeah, just hard work with everyone, with my engineer Antoine, with Dean, with Ian. Yeah, just working hard and getting there little by little, and now we’re here. I’m sure there’s much more success to come.”
With another podium secured, Fluxá strengthens his position as a rising contender within the GB3 field. More importantly, he demonstrates a growing maturity in race management, combining patience with awareness.
