Flynn Jackes continued to demonstrate resilience at Silverstone despite a challenging 2026 GB3 Championship weekend marked by repeated technical issues. The Elite Motorsport driver, who entered the season as one of the more experienced competitors on the grid, showed determination to recover from early setbacks and still deliver competitive performances.

Although results were disrupted by mechanical problems, Jackes remained focused on maximising every opportunity. As a result, he worked his way back into contention and reinforced his reputation as a consistent and composed racer.

Technical issues disrupt early momentum for Jackes at 2026 GB3 opening weekend in Silverstone

Jackes revealed that his weekend had been significantly affected by engine-related problems, which prevented him from building consistent momentum across sessions and races.

“Yeah, pre-season was really strong. And coming into this weekend, we’ve just had a couple of hiccups throughout the weekend. Thursday, my engine was breaking down. Next day, I got a new engine because of it. And then went to the race weekend, and then that engine had an issue. So I’m now on my third engine this weekend. So I was just like, I feel like I’m playing catch-up a bit.”

However, even while managing setbacks, Jackes still delivered encouraging race performances, including a recovery drive into the top ten. His progress across the weekend has been gradual but consistent.

“I think it’s on the cards. Yeah, maybe. I’m going to hope for Race 3 because I’ve got a good starting position there.”

This optimism reflects growing confidence, particularly as he continues to extract stronger results from difficult circumstances. Moreover, his racecraft has steadily improved as the weekend has progressed.

Focus turns to Race 3 opportunity

Looking ahead, Jackes now turns his attention to Race 3, where he will start from a strong grid position. With experience on his side, he understands the importance of capitalising on reverse-grid opportunities in the GB3 format.

“Head down, focus on my race, go off.”

That simple approach reflects both discipline and intent. Therefore, he enters the next race with a clear objective: convert his front-running start into a long-awaited podium challenge.

Despite a frustrating run of mechanical issues, Jackes continues to show why he is one of the most experienced drivers in the field. His ability to stay composed, recover positions and remain competitive under pressure has defined his Silverstone weekend.

If reliability improves, his pace suggests that a podium finish is not far away. Consequently, Race 3 presents a key opportunity to finally turn resilience into reward.
