Josh McLean delivered a composed and decisive drive in the final GB4 Championship race of the 2026 weekend at Oulton Park, taking his maiden victory for Pace Performance. The Briton made the best start from the front row on two occasions, passing pole-sitter Dayton Coulthard each time after the race was restarted.

After an early red flag halted the initial contest, McLean repeated his first-start move when racing resumed. From there, he controlled the lead and secured victory by 1.368 seconds, while Coulthard held on to second ahead of Elite Motorsport’s Emilio Valentino Del Grosso.

McLean beats Coulthard off the line before early red flag

McLean made an excellent launch at the original start and immediately challenged Coulthard into the opening sequence. The Pace Performance driver moved around the outside at Old Hall and took the lead on the first lap.

However, the race was soon stopped following a crash for Charlie Myers and John O’Donnell on the approach to Hilltop. Both drivers stepped clear of their cars, but barrier damage and the need to recover the stranded cars forced officials to show the red flags.

As a result, the remaining runners were brought back to the grid in their original starting positions, giving Coulthard another chance to convert pole into the race lead.

McLean repeats start move to seize Race 3 lead

When the restarted race got underway, McLean once again made the sharper getaway from the front row. Coulthard had been handed a second opportunity from pole, but McLean simply repeated his move from the first start and claimed the lead again.

This time, the Pace Performance driver was able to hold the position. He built a margin of around three-quarters of a second by the end of lap four and began to settle into a rhythm at the front.

Coulthard briefly responded on the following lap, reducing the deficit to just two tenths of a second. However, McLean then stretched the gap back beyond one second and strengthened his control of the race.

Coulthard hangs on as Del Grosso leads chasing train

While McLean edged clear, Coulthard’s focus shifted from attack to defence. Del Grosso closed rapidly in the Elite Motorsport car and placed the Douglas Motorsport driver under heavy pressure in the closing stages.

The fight for second became the centre of a tightly packed train, with several cars covered by only a few seconds. Coulthard held his nerve to finish second, just 0.258 seconds ahead of Del Grosso, who secured his second podium finish of the 2026 season.

Behind them, Connor Willis also remained firmly in the podium fight. The Hillspeed driver finished fourth, missing out on a breakthrough GB4 podium by only 0.253 seconds.

Ingram Hill climbs to fifth as Hallman completes strong Oulton Park weekend

Thomas Ingram Hill continued his consistent start to the season with fifth for Fortec Motorsports. After starting eighth, he gained three places and finished within the lead group, continuing another strong points-scoring run.

Enzo Hallman produced one of the best recovery drives inside the top ten. The Hillspeed driver started 10th and climbed to sixth, completing an impressive Oulton Park event after podium finishes earlier in the weekend.

Luke Hilton followed in seventh for Nitrous Competition ADM Racing. He had moved up from ninth but was passed during Hallman’s charge, while Torrin Byrne came home eighth for Pace Performance.

O’Grady and Green finish outside podium fight but remain in title picture

Franciszek Cegielski was ninth for Fortec Motorsports and once again finished as the highest-placed Rookie runner. Race 2 winner Alex O’Grady completed the top ten for KMR Sport, finishing just ahead of championship leader Fred Green.

Green came home 11th for Elite Motorsport, keeping himself inside the points after starting 12th. Although the result ended his run of Oulton Park podiums, he maintained the championship lead heading to Donington Park.

O’Grady, meanwhile, added more points after his Race 2 victory, ensuring the title contest remains finely balanced after a competitive Oulton Park weekend.

McLean breaks through as Oulton Park weekend ends with packed lead battle

McLean’s victory marked a breakthrough moment after a dramatic final race of the weekend. His ability to make two strong starts, regain the lead after the red flag and then manage the pressure from Coulthard showed composure at a crucial stage.

Behind him, the train from second through 11th underlined the competitive depth of the GB4 field. The eight cars behind Coulthard were covered by just 3.736 seconds at the flag, with Del Grosso, Willis, Ingram Hill, Hallman, Hilton, Byrne, Cegielski, O’Grady and Green all closely matched.

The GB4 Championship now moves on to Donington Park, with Green still leading the standings but O’Grady, Hallman and the wider chasing pack continuing to build momentum.
