Ben Dörr gave Team RJN the fastest time in FP2 at Monza, putting a Silver Cup car ahead of most of the GTWC Endurance Cup field.

The German set a 1:46.315 in the #23 McLaren, edging the #24 Steller Motorsport Corvette by just 0.025s. Dennis Lind had the Corvette for its best lap and continued its strong Saturday by also topping the Gold Cup order.

The session produced an unexpected classification. Many of the usual Pro contenders sat outside the top places, while Silver and Gold Cup cars filled much of the leading group.

Bortolotti gives Lamborghini a boost

Mirko Bortolotti took third overall and led the Pro runners for TGI Team by GRT. His result gave the new Lamborghini Temerario another encouraging sign as the team continues to build momentum with the car.

Tresor Attempto Racing also featured strongly with both of its Audi entries. Ariel Levi placed fourth overall in the #66 car, while Alex Frassineti followed in fifth in the sister #99 machine. Levi ranked second in the Silver Cup, while Frassineti finished second among the Gold Cup entries.

Guilherme Oliveira completed the top six in the #5 Optimum Motorsport McLaren, adding another Silver Cup car to the sharp end of the FP2 order.

Familiar names run outside the front group

The rest of the top ten featured the #51 AF Corse Ferrari, the #98 ROWE Racing BMW, the #71 Selected Car Racing Ferrari and the #10 Boutsen VDS Porsche.

Gabriele Piana led the Bronze Cup in the #87 Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG and placed 11th overall, only 0.166s away from Dörr’s fastest lap. The small gap at the front reflected the remarkable closeness of the session, with 54 cars covered by less than a second.

Further back, several likely contenders did not chase headline times. Mercedes-AMG Team Verstappen Racing, fastest in the morning with the #3 car, ended FP2 in 16th. The #48 Mercedes-AMG Team Mann-Filter placed 12th, while Garage 59 finished 19th with its #59 McLaren. Comtoyou Racing’s #7 Aston Martin ended 21st, and Team WRT’s #32 BMW placed 29th.

Those positions suggest several teams shifted towards race preparation after completing qualifying-style runs earlier in the day.

Qualifying picture remains unclear

Dörr’s pace put RJN at the top of an unusual FP2 classification, while Lind again showed the Corvette’s strength and Bortolotti gave Lamborghini a positive result in the Pro category.

However, the mixed order means the true competitive picture remains difficult to judge. With many front-running teams seemingly working through longer-run programmes, Qualifying should provide a clearer read on the pace at Monza.
