Martinius Stenshorne claimed his first F2 victory at the 2026 Canadian GP, leading teammate Alex Dunne across the line to complete a 1-2 for Rodin Motorsport. The Norwegian driver had shown strong pace across the opening two rounds of the season but had little to show for it due to factors outside his control. Montreal finally gave him the clean weekend he needed.

Stenshorne had taken his first F2 podium in the Sprint Race, finishing third, before converting his pace into a Feature Race victory on Sunday. The Feature Race was interrupted by multiple safety cars, but Stenshorne remained in control to secure the win.

Stenshorne on getting the result Rodin Motorsport deserved at the F2 Canadian GP

Stenshorne reflected on a run of early-season misfortune after the weekend. He had headed into Montreal with just four points from the first two rounds. He felt that the underlying pace had always been there.

“Obviously, it feels very good this weekend to finally have a clean Feature Race,” said Stenshorne. “I think we had good pace in the other two previous rounds as well.”

He acknowledged that not everything had been in his hands across the opening rounds. He also credited the team for keeping their standards high throughout.

“But there were just some things that I couldn’t do much about. The team has done an amazing job so far this year, they have given me a great car. We just had a clean weekend and came out on top.”

Rodin Motorsport’s standout pace so far in 2026 F2 season

Stenshorne spoke confidently about where Rodin Motorsport stand in the field. He pointed to both himself and Dunne as evidence of the team’s strength.

“We’ve been quick so far this year. I think both Alex and I, so far this year, we’ve been the quickest to be honest, and I hope it stays that way.”

Stenshorne also praised the car, noting that he felt comfortable in every session across the Canadian GP weekend and crediting the Rodin engineers for providing a strong package. “The car has been really good so far, both in Practice, Qualifying and all the races, we’ve been up there. A big shout out to the team for giving me a car that’s capable of that, because it’s for sure very enjoyable to drive and I’m enjoying it a lot,” he stated.

“The move was good”: Stenshorne on his race-winning overtake at the F2 Canadian GP

The decisive moment came at the second Safety Car restart. Stenshorne passed Tsolov for the effective race lead and immediately began to pull clear. He then overtook the cars that had yet to pit and built a gap of over two seconds to Beganovic.

“The move was good, I was happy that I got him there,” said Stenshorne. “It’s always a bit tricky when you’re catching traffic with people on a bit worse tyres, you have to do the right things.”

Stenshorne extended his advantage quickly once through the traffic. He was building comfortably when Beganovic’s car stopped on track with a mechanical issue.

“But we came out good today, overtaking him there and then getting the others quite quickly as well. We came through quite fast which helped me make a gap to Beganovic.”

Stenshorne admitted frustration when the safety car came out again. He had worked hard to build his advantage and was disappointed to see it wiped out. “Of course then [Beganovic] had an issue but I had quite a big gap, so I was a bit disappointed that the Safety Car came out,” he stated.

The restart caused him no problems. Stenshorne pulled away cleanly and managed the final laps to take the win. “But we had a good restart after that and then we had good pace for the next two laps. So I can’t thank the team enough for the whole job they’ve done.”

Stenshorne looks ahead to the European leg of the 2026 F2 season

The championship now heads to Europe for the Monaco and Barcelona back-to-back. Stenshorne looked forward to returning to circuits he knows well. He also acknowledged that Rodin had performed strongly even on unfamiliar tracks.

“It’s going to be nice to go back to Europe, obviously knowing all the tracks as well,” said Stenshorne. “Even though the tracks have been new, the car has been quite dialled in already from practice, so the team has done a good job on that.”

Stenshorne expects the familiar tracks to level the playing field. He remained hopeful that Rodin’s current form would carry over into the European rounds.

“But coming back now to Europe, I think everyone knows the tracks now more or less. It’s just going to be interesting, but I hope we have as good a pace as we do now.”

“Obviously, the team did well in Monaco last year, they were very fast, so I hope we can give them another good result there and we can keep going as we are the rest of the season,” Stenshorne concluded.

Stenshorne’s maiden victory at the 2026 F2 Canadian GP puts him firmly in the championship picture, as Rodin Motorsport carries strong momentum into the European leg. With Monaco next on the calendar, Stenshorne will head to the principality as one of the drivers to watch.
