The F2 Feature Race at the 2026 Canadian GP delivered yet another action-packed race. View the full results here.
After his triumphant, history-making victory for Mexico yesterday, Campos Racing’s Noel León headed into the Feature Race with high hopes, aiming to secure another strong result as he currently sits 4th in the Drivers’ Standings with 32 points. However, having claimed his first F2 pole position on Friday, Trident’s Laurens van Hoepen started on the front row alongside Nikola Tsolov once again.
Ahead of lights out, the majority of the field opted to start on the Supersoft tyres, while Mari Boya, Roman Bilinski and Kush Maini started on the Soft compound, opting for the prime-option strategy. With a timely launch off the line, Tsolov found himself in the lead as they headed down to Turn 1. However, it wasn’t long before van Hoepen reclaimed the lead with a bold lunge down the inside.
As rain began to trickle down, drivers became increasingly cautious as they made their way around the circuit. Unfortunately for the pole-sitter van Hoepen, the Wall of Champions claimed its first victim as the Trident driver crashed on lap five, deploying the first safety car.
Having pitted early for a gamble, Emerson Fittipaldi Jr. rejoined the track but immediately locked up and went straight into the wall. A second safety car was then deployed. All drivers on the Supersoft tyres dived into the pit lane, as an incident between John Bennett and Rafael Villagómez forced the Briton to retire.
Maini spun Tsolov around, dropping the Bulgarian out of the podium places as he plummeted down the field. After sustaining damage to the front left suspension, Villagómez marked the fourth retirement of the race, deploying a virtual safety car.
Attempting a late lunge on Beganovic, Câmara spun himself around and was eventually handed a five-second time penalty. However, despite keeping pace with the frontrunners, Beganovic eventually retired his car due to an engine issue, deploying the third safety car of the race.
Several incidents continued to unfold as Ollie Goethe made contact with the wall, causing significant damage to his car. Soon, Ritomo Miyata headed into the pit lane to retire his car as well.
However, as the race ended under a safety car, Martinius Stenshorne claimed his first F2 victory, with Alex Dunne crossing the line to complete a one-two finish for Rodin Motorsport.
