Target Racing will return to the International GT Open at Misano this weekend, adding another entry to the grid as the championship prepares for its first visit to the Italian circuit.
The third round of the 2026 season already carries added significance because Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli appears on the GT Open calendar for the first time. Now, the event gains further local interest through the return of Target Racing, an Italian squad based near the venue in Lugo.
The team will enter a Ferrari 296 GT3 in the Am class for Chinese driver Huilin Han, who brings recent Italian GT experience and a strong record in one-make competition.
Target Racing adds local interest to Misano round
Misano’s arrival on the International GT Open calendar has already created anticipation across the paddock. The venue, located close to the Adriatic Sea, gives the championship a new technical challenge and a fresh Italian setting.
Target Racing’s entry adds another layer to the weekend. The team operates from Lugo, not far from Misano, making the round a natural opportunity for its return to the series.
That local connection should give the team extra motivation as it rejoins the GT Open field. Although Misano is new to the championship, Target Racing has extensive experience in Italian motorsport and should understand the demands of the venue well.
A team with deep racing roots
Target Racing has built its reputation across several decades. The team was founded in 1997 and initially competed in single-seater categories alongside BVM, which later became one of the major names in Euroformula Open.
Since 2017, the organisation has focused mainly on GT racing. It has also competed under different names, including Raton Racing by Target, which represented the team in the International GT Open during the 2018 and 2019 seasons.
Therefore, the Misano appearance marks more than a one-off addition to the entry list. It reconnects Target Racing with a championship it already knows, while placing the team back on the GT Open stage at a landmark event for the series.
Huilin Han leads Ferrari 296 GT3 Am class entry
Target Racing will field a Ferrari 296 GT3 for Huilin Han in the Am class. The 42-year-old Chinese driver arrives with strong recent experience in GT racing, particularly in Italy.
Han has been a leading Am-category contender in the Italian GT Championship in recent years. He finished as vice-champion in the class in 2025, underlining his ability to compete at the front in a highly competitive national GT environment.
In addition, Han has built experience across Lamborghini, Porsche and Ferrari one-make trophies. That background gives him familiarity with different GT platforms and should help him adapt quickly to the GT Open weekend format.
The Ferrari 296 GT3 also gives Target Racing a proven modern GT3 package for its return. Around Misano’s technical layout, consistency, traction and braking performance will likely prove important, particularly in the Am class battle.
Misano debut gains another storyline
The 2026 International GT Open round at Misano already represents a historic moment for the championship. As the series visits the Adriatic venue for the first time, teams and drivers will need to build knowledge quickly across practice, qualifying and the races.
Target Racing’s return adds a local team angle to that wider story. With its base close to the circuit, its long history in Italian motorsport and a Ferrari entry for an experienced Am driver, the team gives the Misano weekend another point of interest.
For Han, the event offers a chance to measure himself in the GT Open Am class while working with an established Italian squad. For Target Racing, it provides an opportunity to re-enter the championship at a meaningful venue and immediately compete in familiar surroundings.
As GT Open prepares for its first Misano round, Target Racing’s Ferrari entry strengthens the grid and adds further intrigue to one of the most anticipated weekends of the 2026 season.
