A lengthy legacy is embarking on a new chapter, as Pirelli and F1 announced their new deal.
The Italian manufacturer and FIA Formula One have officially confirmed the extension of their current partnership, activating a renewal clause which will allow Pirelli to remain the sole tyre supplier for the top single seaters championship.
Pirelli and F1’s illustrious tyre partnership will last for two more years
The history of this alliance dates back to the beginning of the history of Formula 1, as Pirelli supplied tyres to eight cars on track for the inaugural Silverstone round in 1950. Three of those, Farina, Fagioli and Parnell’s Alfa Romeo contenders, ended the day on the podium, definitely aided by the performant rubber.
Following some shorter collaborations, since 2011 the Italian outlet has been the sole tyre provider for the series and its supporting championships. In fact, in addition to F1, also feeder championships Formula 2, Formula 3 and F1 Academy will all compete on the tyre compounds made exclusively for these drivers.
The announcement was happily saluted by F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali. He also highlighted the significance of the tyre related partnership with Pirelli.

All brand representatives are content with the new agreement
FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem also expressed his pleasure with the contract extension, praising the highly performant brand.
“Pirelli has been an important partner to the FIA Formula One World Championship for many years, providing a consistently high standard of performance, innovation, and safety at the highest level of our sport. This extension through to the end of 2028 provides stability for the championship and reflects the strong collaboration between the FIA, Formula One Group and Pirelli. Together, we continue to drive innovation and support the delivery of exciting racing for competitors, teams and fans around the world.”
From Pirelli’s side, Executive Vice Chairman Mario Tronchetti Provera underlined the very close bond that ties the manufacturer to the sport, remarking the important milestone of 500 GPs together recently accomplished.
