Forestier Racing by Panis wins the ELMS opener in Barcelona as Algarve Pro Racing, Rinaldi and Proton claim class honours.

Forestier Racing by Panis opened its European Le Mans Series title defence with victory in an interrupted 4 Hours of Barcelona.

Louis Rousset, Oliver Gray and Esteban Masson recovered from an early drive-through penalty to win in the #29 Oreca 07-Gibson. Masson crossed the line 13.398 seconds ahead of the pole-sitting #34 Inter Europol Competition entry, while United Autosports completed the overall podium.

Algarve Pro Racing claimed the LMP2 Pro/Am victory with Michael Jensen, Enzo Trulli and Malthe Jakobsen. Rinaldi Racing won in LMP3, while Proton Competition secured the LMGT3 honours with its #75 Porsche 911 GT3 R.

Before the race, Algarve Pro Racing led the opening Free Practice session, Inter Europol Competition completed an FP2 one-two and Reshad de Gerus claimed overall pole.

Jake Hughes set the pace for Algarve Pro Racing during Friday’s opening 90-minute Free Practice session.

The Briton recorded a 1:29.720 in the #25 Oreca shared with Matthias Kaiser and Tristan Vautier. That lap placed Algarve Pro Racing 0.205 seconds ahead of the #28 IDEC Sport entry, while Inter Europol Competition followed in third with its #43 car.

CLX Motorsport finished fourth with the #37 Oreca before Sami Meguetounif led LMP2 Pro/Am in fifth overall for TDS Racing. Forestier Racing by Panis completed the top six ahead of Rossa Racing by Virage and Duqueine Team.

The session stopped shortly after the green flag when the #27 Nielsen Racing Oreca spun into the gravel and deposited oil on the circuit. Marshals cleaned the affected area before the field resumed its preparations.

Henry Cubides Olarte led LMP3 aboard the #13 Inter Europol Competition Ligier JS P325-Toyota. His 1:38.236 placed him 0.584 seconds ahead of the #85 R-ace GP Duqueine D09-Toyota.

Daniel Serra led LMGT3 for Kessel Racing with a 1:41.577 in the #57 Ferrari 296 LMGT3 Evo. Ferrari occupied the first four places in the category through Kessel Racing, GR Racing, AF Corse and Richard Mille AF Corse.

2026 ELMS Barcelona: Bronze Driver Collecive Test: Roda leads

Giorgio Roda set the fastest time in Friday afternoon’s 30-minute Bronze Driver Collective Test.

The Italian recorded a 1:31.703 in the #30 Duqueine Team Oreca, finishing 0.962 seconds ahead of reigning LMP2 Pro/Am champion PJ Hyett in the #99 AO by TF entry.

Jens Reno Møller placed the #7 Vector Sport Oreca third with a 1:32.907, while John Falb and Georgios Kolovos completed the first five for Rossa Racing by Virage and CLX Motorsport.

Douwe Dedecker led LMP3 for Eurointernational with a 1:39.019. Meanwhile, Blake McDonald topped LMGT3 in the #33 TF Sport Corvette Z06 LMGT3.R.

Inter Europol Competition controlled Saturday morning’s final Free Practice session with its two LMP2 entries.

Reshad de Gerus recorded a 1:29.622 in the #34 Oreca and finished 0.450 seconds ahead of teammate Tom Dillmann in the #43 car.

Laurents Hörr placed the #18 IDEC Sport entry third with a 1:30.131, while the FP1-leading #25 Algarve Pro Racing Oreca followed in fourth. Forestier Racing by Panis completed the first five.

Matthieu Vaxivière led LMP2 Pro/Am for AF Corse in seventh overall. Rossa Racing by Virage finished second in class, while DKR Engineering completed the Pro/Am top three.

Max van der Snel put Eurointernational at the front of LMP3 with a 1:40.465. Valentin Hasse Clot led LMGT3 for Racing Spirit of Léman with a 1:41.610 in the #59 Aston Martin Vantage AMR LMGT3.

2026 ELMS Barcelona: Qualifying: De Gerus takes overall pole for Inter Europol Competition

De Gerus carried Inter Europol Competition’s FP2 pace into Qualifying and claimed the overall pole position with a 1:28.368.

The #34 driver beat reigning champion Masson by 0.189 seconds, while Dillmann placed the sister #43 Inter Europol Competition entry third.

Hörr qualified fourth for IDEC Sport, ahead of Hughes in the #25 Algarve Pro Racing Oreca and Ben Hanley in the #22 United Autosports car.

The result gave De Gerus his second consecutive Barcelona pole and placed two Inter Europol Competition cars inside the first two rows.

Roda added the LMP2 Pro/Am pole to his earlier Bronze Driver Collective Test benchmark.

The Duqueine Team driver recorded a 1:30.332 in the #30 Oreca and finished 0.940 seconds ahead of Hyett in the #99 AO by TF car.

Falb qualified third for Rossa Racing by Virage before Møller and Kolovos completed the first five for Vector Sport and CLX Motorsport.

R-ace GP takes LMP3 pole

Hugo Schwarze secured the LMP3 pole for R-ace GP with a 1:36.524 in the category’s only Duqueine D09-Toyota.

The German driver finished 0.927 seconds ahead of Daniel Nogales in Team Virage’s #8 Ligier. Lenny Ried placed Racing Spirit of Léman third, just 0.028 seconds ahead of Rinaldi Racing.

Al-Khelaifi makes history with LMGT3 pole

Abdulla Ali Al-Khelaifi became the first Qatari driver to claim an ELMS pole after leading LMGT3 for Team Qatar by Iron Lynx.

Al-Khelaifi set a 1:42.289 in the #62 Mercedes-AMG LMGT3 and beat McDonald’s #33 TF Sport Corvette by 0.063 seconds.

Matt Kurzejewski placed Proton Competition third, while Racing Spirit of Léman and Kessel Racing completed the first five.

The #51 AF Corse Ferrari did not take part in Qualifying after sustaining damage during FP2.

2026 ELMS Barcelona: Race: Opening-lap collisions bring out the red flag

Several incidents at Turn 1 interrupted the race immediately after the start.

The #9 Proton Competition Oreca spun after contact within the prototype group. The #47 CLX Motorsport Oreca then struck it before the #27 Nielsen Racing car also became involved.

A separate incident followed when Antti Rammo lost control of the #4 DKR Engineering Ligier over the kerbs. The car collected the #17 CLX Motorsport and #68 M Racing entries, leaving all three stranded in the gravel.

Officials initially deployed the Safety Car before stopping the race. Marshals recovered the cars and cleared debris from the circuit before the restart.

Medical personnel attended to Kolovos after he reported back pain. Examinations confirmed an L2 vertebra fracture, and he remained under observation in a stable condition.

Forestier Racing by Panis recovers to take victory

Bijoy Garg led the restart in the pole-sitting #34 Inter Europol Competition Oreca, with Rousset running second for Forestier Racing by Panis.

However, officials issued four drive-through penalties for start-procedure infringements, including one for the #29. Rousset served the penalty and dropped down the order.

Griffin Peebles moved the #22 United Autosports Oreca into second before passing Garg for the lead at Turn 13.

Forestier Racing by Panis regained ground through the remaining stints. Rousset, Gray and Masson returned the #29 to the front before Masson completed 135 laps and secured victory.

The #34 Inter Europol Competition crew of Garg and de Gerus finished second, 13.398 seconds behind. United Autosports took third with the #22 Oreca, while IDEC Sport and the #43 Inter Europol Competition entry completed the top five.

Algarve Pro Racing takes LMP2 Pro/Am victory

The #20 Algarve Pro Racing crew of Jensen, Trulli and Jakobsen won LMP2 Pro/Am in eighth overall.

AF Corse recovered from rear damage sustained during the opening-lap incidents to finish second in class and 10th overall with François Perrodo, Vaxivière and Antonio Fuoco.

The pole-sitting Duqueine Team Oreca completed the class podium in 11th overall. TDS Racing and Rossa Racing by Virage followed.

Rinaldi Racing wins in LMP3

Rinaldi Racing claimed the LMP3 victory with the #5 Ligier after completing 127 laps.

The winning car finished 11.881 seconds ahead of the pole-sitting #85 R-ace GP Duqueine. Inter Europol Competition crossed the line another 2.318 seconds behind in third.

Eurointernational took fourth, while Team Virage completed the leading group in fifth.

Proton Competition claims LMGT3 honours

Proton Competition won LMGT3 with its #75 Porsche 911 GT3 R.

The Porsche finished only 3.004 seconds ahead of United Autosports’ #23 McLaren 720S LMGT3 Evo. Kessel Racing completed the podium with the #57 Ferrari shared by Takeshi Kimura, Mathys Jaubert and Serra.

The pole-sitting Team Qatar by Iron Lynx Mercedes finished fourth, only 0.130 seconds ahead of the #50 Richard Mille AF Corse Ferrari.

Focus shifts to Le Castellet

Forestier Racing by Panis leaves Barcelona with the overall championship lead after winning the opening race of its title defence.

Algarve Pro Racing, Rinaldi Racing and Proton Competition also begin the campaign with victories in LMP2 Pro/Am, LMP3 and LMGT3 respectively. The European Le Mans Series will continue with the 4 Hours of Le Castellet on 3 May.
