The 2026 Italian F4 Championship continued at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, where the third round of the season delivered a record 49-car grid, close Qualifying margins, repeated Safety Car interruptions, post-race penalties and another major shift at the top of the championship.
After taking control of the Teams’ Championship at Vallelunga, US Racing strengthened its position emphatically at the Temple of Speed. Luka Sammalisto produced another outstanding performance, winning all three races he contested and securing the Final victory to complete a second consecutive hat-trick. Meanwhile, teammate Noah Killion claimed his maiden Italian F4 victory in Race 2, ensuring that US Racing won all four races across the weekend.
Championship leader Alp Aksoy endured a more difficult round and consequently surrendered first place in the Drivers’ standings. Sammalisto moved ahead after Race 1 before extending his advantage through two further victories, leaving Monza with 228 points and a 47-point lead over David Cosma-Cristofor. Aksoy retained the Rookie Championship lead but dropped to third overall on 166 points.
Oleksandr Savinkov, Ary Bansal and Edward Robinson also played important roles throughout the weekend, while US Racing completed two amended podium sweeps following post-race penalties. Elsewhere, Levi Arn, Aksoy, Alexander Chartier and Christian Costoya shared the Rookie victories, while Emma Felbermayr completed a Women’s Trophy hat-trick and moved closer to category leader Emily Cotty.
With 49 drivers representing 13 teams, Monza set a new participation record for the championship and reinforced the depth of the 2026 field. However, the weekend ultimately belonged to Sammalisto and US Racing, whose dominance transformed the title picture ahead of the fourth round at Mugello.
2026 Italian F4: Monza: Collective Testing: Robinson leads as US Racing responds to PREMA

The Italian F4 Championship began its third round with two Collective Test sessions at Monza on Thursday. A record field of 49 Tatuus F4-T421 cars took part, giving the drivers four hours of preparation before Friday’s grouped Free Practice and Qualifying sessions.
PREMA Racing controlled the opening session through David Cosma-Cristofor, Alp Aksoy and Niccolò Maccagnani. However, US Racing responded during the hotter afternoon running as Edward Robinson led teammate Luka Sammalisto and recorded the fastest lap of the day.
Cosma-Cristofor leads a PREMA top three in Collective Test 1
Several red flags interrupted the first two-hour session, while numerous track-limit infringements resulted in deleted lap times throughout the field. Nevertheless, the drivers completed enough running to begin evaluating Monza’s low-downforce demands and the importance of securing a well-timed slipstream.
Cosma-Cristofor eventually moved to the top with a 1:52.541. Aksoy followed only 0.069 seconds behind and led the Rookie runners, while Maccagnani completed a PREMA sweep of the first three positions. Meanwhile, Robinson placed fourth for US Racing, only 0.007 seconds behind Maccagnani while Thomas Bearman followed in fifth for Van Amersfoort Racing, ahead of Sammalisto, Christian Costoya and Oleksandr Savinkov.
Ludovico Busso gave US Racing a fourth car inside the top nine, while Elia Weiss completed the top 10 for Jenzer Motorsport. Only 0.476 seconds covered the leading 10 drivers, immediately demonstrating the competitiveness of the 49-car field.

2026 Italian F4: Monza: Free Practice: Sammalisto sets the overall pace as US Racing tops every session

The 49-car Italian F4 field split into two groups for Friday’s Free Practice programme at Monza. Each group completed two sessions before Qualifying, giving the drivers a final opportunity to assess tyre behaviour, slipstream positioning and track evolution in increasingly hot conditions.
US Racing led all four sessions. Ary Bansal topped both outings for the first group, while Luka Sammalisto set the fastest overall time during Free Practice 1 Series 2. Ludovico Busso then narrowly beat Edward Robinson in the final session.

Red flags disrupt Free Practice 2 Series 1
Conditions became more challenging for the opening afternoon group as the track temperature climbed to 52°C. Two red flags interrupted the 30-minute session and prevented many drivers from completing representative runs.

Meanwhile, Martinese led the Rookie runners in third for PHM Racing, narrowly beating Savinkov by 0.002 seconds. Westcott followed in fifth, giving R-ACE GP two drivers inside the leading five.
Bondarev finished sixth ahead of Lima and Orsini. Felbermayr and Ignacio Diaz completed the top 10, while several expected front-runners remained lower in the order after the interruptions limited their running.
Killion and Cosma-Cristofor completed only slow laps, while Ruykov did not record a valid time.

US Racing carries its Free Practice advantage into Qualifying
Sammalisto’s 1:52.108 from Free Practice 1 Series 2 remained the fastest lap across Friday’s four sessions. Robinson finished second in the combined picture with his 1:52.255, while Bansal’s 1:52.284 placed him third overall.
Bearman followed with a 1:52.397, while Consani and Busso also remained within half a second of Sammalisto. Chartier led the combined Rookie order after producing a 1:52.697 during the first morning session.
US Racing topped every group and placed several drivers near the front throughout the day. Nevertheless, the small gaps and the importance of the slipstream ensured that Qualifying remained unpredictable as the 49-car field prepared to determine the three group-race grids.
2026 Italian F4: Monza: Qualifying: Robinson fastest overall as Killion claims Race 1 pole

After US Racing topped all four Free Practice sessions, the team carried its momentum into Friday evening’s Qualifying programme. Noah Killion led the opening group, while Edward Robinson produced the fastest lap across both sessions during a late charge in the second group.
Robinson’s 1:52.080 secured the fastest overall time, while Killion’s 1:52.236 gave him the other group benchmark. Consequently, US Racing claimed all three pole positions for the opening races, with Killion set to lead Race 1 and Robinson earning the leading grid position for Races 2 and 3.

US Racing secures all three group-race poles
Robinson’s late improvement made him the fastest driver across the two Qualifying sessions. Killion ranked second among the group leaders, while Sammalisto’s second place behind Robinson ensured that US Racing occupied the leading position in each of the three groups.
Under the Italian F4 group rotation, Killion will start Race 1 for Groups B and C from pole position. Robinson will then lead Race 2 for Groups A and B before returning to pole for Race 3, which brings together Groups A and C.
As a result, US Racing completed a clean sweep of the three group-race pole positions. However, the narrow Qualifying margins suggested that the team would face strong pressure from PREMA Racing, R-ACE GP and Van Amersfoort Racing once the racing began.
The first three races will also determine which 36 drivers progress to the Final. Therefore, while the leading drivers will compete for victories and championship points, the rest of the record 49-car field must also secure a sufficiently strong combined result to continue into Sunday afternoon’s decisive contest.
2026 Italian F4: Monza: Race 1: Sammalisto wins as penalties complete a US Racing podium sweep
Luka Sammalisto continued his remarkable run of form in the opening race at Monza, overcoming two Safety Car periods and repeated challenges from his US Racing teammates to claim his fourth consecutive Italian F4 victory.

Although Noah Killion initially finished second and Kenzo Craigie crossed the line third, post-race penalties transformed the podium. Ary Bansal and Oleksandr Savinkov consequently moved into second and third, completing an all-US Racing top three.
Killion and Sammalisto exchange the lead
Killion started the Groups B-C race from pole position and successfully held off Sammalisto through the opening sequence of corners. However, Sammalisto used the slipstream along the main straight on lap two before passing his teammate for the lead.
The first Safety Car period followed soon afterwards when George Proudford-Nalder and Lyuboslav Ruykov collided. At the restart, Killion immediately attacked and reclaimed first place with a decisive move into the opening chicane. Sammalisto briefly dropped behind Savinkov, leaving the three US Racing drivers to fight directly for victory.
Nevertheless, Sammalisto remained patient. He used the tow from the two cars ahead, returned to the front and began controlling the race once more. Behind him, Andy Consani placed himself in contention for the podium before Alex Ruta’s incident triggered a second Safety Car.
That interruption created a final-lap restart. Sammalisto accelerated cleanly and opened enough of a margin to protect the lead into Turn 1. Consani, meanwhile, attacked in pursuit of a maiden victory but ended his race in the gravel.
Sammalisto therefore crossed the line first, ahead of Killion and Craigie. Aksoy followed in fourth, while Bansal and Savinkov completed the provisional top six.
Penalties produce an all-US Racing podium
The Stewards subsequently handed Killion a 25-second penalty for his contact with Consani during the battle for victory. As a result, Killion dropped from second to 25th in the amended classification.
Craigie also lost his podium after receiving five seconds for contact with Thomas Bearman. The sanction moved him from third to seventh, although he still finished fourth in the Rookie classification.
Consequently, Bansal inherited second and Savinkov moved into third. US Racing therefore secured a clean sweep of the podium, while Sammalisto’s victory moved him ahead of Aksoy in the Drivers’ Championship.
Levi Arn climbed to fourth overall and secured the Rookie victory. Simon Rechenmacher followed in fifth on his Italian F4 debut weekend, while Christian Costoya finished sixth and completed the Rookie podium.

In addition to Killion’s 25-second penalty and Craigie’s five-second sanction, the Stewards issued several further penalties that altered the lower points positions.
Aksoy received 10 seconds for an incident with Walther and dropped to 20th. Maccagnani also received 10 seconds following contact with Rodriguez, while Zheng received the same sanction for his incident with Ruykov.
Meanwhile, Cortes received five seconds for contact with teammate Weiss. Fogaça also received five seconds after overtaking Rodriguez before crossing the control line at a Safety Car restart.
Separately, Westcott received a three-place grid penalty for her next race, while Proudford-Nalder received a two-place grid drop.
2026 Italian F4: Monza: Race 2: Killion converts rapid start into maiden victory

Noah Killion responded emphatically to his Race 1 penalty by claiming his maiden Italian F4 victory in Saturday evening’s Groups A-B contest. The Australian seized the lead at the start and resisted continuous pressure from David Cosma-Cristofor throughout the 13-lap race.
Behind them, Alp Aksoy recovered from an early setback to complete the podium and win the Rookie classification. Ludovico Busso finished only 0.139 seconds behind the championship leader, while pole-sitter Edward Robinson slipped to fifth after losing the lead immediately.
Killion takes control from Robinson
Robinson started from pole after setting the fastest overall time in Qualifying. However, Killion launched more effectively and reached the opening chicane in the lead. Robinson initially held second, but Cosma-Cristofor passed him on the following lap and immediately began pressuring the leader.
Killion and Cosma-Cristofor remained closely matched throughout the opening phase. Although the Romanian repeatedly entered the slipstream along Monza’s long straights, Killion positioned his car effectively under braking and prevented a clear overtaking opportunity.
Meanwhile, Robinson remained third ahead of Oleksandr Bondarev, Busso and Aksoy. However, their battle intensified as the race progressed, allowing Killion and Cosma-Cristofor to maintain a small advantage at the front.
The race then entered a neutralised phase during the middle distance. Nevertheless, Killion controlled the restart and retained first place, while Cosma-Cristofor remained within striking distance.
Bondarev’s podium challenge ends in the gravel
Behind the leading pair, Bondarev gradually advanced through the battle for third. The Williams Driver Academy member passed Robinson and moved into the final podium position during the closing stages.
However, Busso and Aksoy remained directly behind him. As the group approached the penultimate lap, Bondarev ran into the gravel during his battle with Busso and dropped outside the points-paying positions.
Busso briefly inherited third, but Aksoy completed his recovery on the final lap and secured the position by 0.139 seconds. The Turkish driver had earlier fallen to 10th before working his way back through the field, and his third-place finish also delivered the Rookie victory.
Robinson eventually crossed the line fifth, while Kenzo Craigie finished sixth and placed second among the Rookies. Arjen Kräling followed in seventh before Knud Nielsen completed the overall top eight and the Rookie podium.
Killion withstands Cosma-Cristofor’s pressure
At the front, Cosma-Cristofor remained within one second of Killion throughout the final laps. However, Killion continued to break the tow and defended the approach to the first chicane, preventing his rival from drawing fully alongside.
Killion ultimately crossed the line 0.674 seconds ahead to secure his first Italian F4 victory. Cosma-Cristofor continued his consistent start to the season with second, while Aksoy completed an all-PREMA podium behind the US Racing winner.
Busso and Robinson followed in fourth and fifth, giving US Racing three cars inside the leading five. Craigie, Kräling and Nielsen occupied the next three positions, while Bernardo Bernoldi and Christian Costoya completed the top 10.
Further back, Emma Felbermayr led the Women’s Trophy runners. The PHM Racing driver finished 17th in the final classification, ahead of Rafaela Ferreira and Emily Cotty in the category.

Zheng’s penalty changes the final points position
After the race, the Stewards handed Zheng a five-second penalty for rejoining unsafely after an excursion through the gravel. He consequently dropped from 14th to 21st in the final classification.
As a result, Chartier moved into 14th, while Bondarev recovered to 15th and claimed the final available championship point despite his late gravel excursion.
Walther also received a six-place grid penalty for the following race. Although he had served a drive-through penalty for an incident with Kamyab, he completed it while the Safety Car remained on track, which the sporting regulations prohibited.
Finally, Lima received a four-place grid penalty following his incident with Michelini.
2026 Italian F4: Monza: Race 3: Sammalisto wins again as penalties reshape the podium

Luka Sammalisto continued his winning run in Sunday morning’s Groups A-C race, claiming his second victory of the Monza weekend and his fifth consecutive Italian F4 win. The Finn started alongside pole-sitter Edward Robinson before prevailing in a race shaped by two Safety Car periods and an intense fight among the leading US Racing drivers.
Robinson and Florentin Hattemer initially joined Sammalisto on the podium. However, post-race penalties removed both drivers from the top three. Thomas Bearman consequently inherited second, while David Cosma-Cristofor completed the amended podium for PREMA Racing.
Sammalisto and Robinson exchange the lead
Robinson started from pole after setting the fastest overall time in Qualifying. Nevertheless, Sammalisto launched more effectively from second and took the lead before the end of the opening lap.
Robinson responded immediately. He used the slipstream to move back ahead on lap two, but Sammalisto remained close and reclaimed first place one lap later. From that point onwards, the championship leader controlled the pace while the positions behind him continued to change.
Meanwhile, Oleksandr Savinkov initially held third ahead of Cosma-Cristofor, Bearman and Hattemer. However, an opening-lap incident involving Roland Kuklane, Emily Cotty and Rafaela Ferreira removed all three drivers from contention and prompted the first Safety Car period.
Sammalisto managed the restart cleanly and retained the lead. Behind him, Robinson and Savinkov continued their battle, while Hattemer gained ground and moved into contention for the overall podium. The lap chart confirmed that Sammalisto and Robinson exchanged first place before the Finn established control from lap three onwards.
A second Safety Car creates a final podium fight
The action intensified after the first restart. Hattemer climbed to fifth and joined Bearman, Ary Bansal, Cosma-Cristofor and the US Racing drivers in a closely matched leading group.
However, another incident soon interrupted the contest. Alex Ruta and Lyuboslav Ruykov made contact, sending Ruykov off the circuit and prompting the second Safety Car. Roman Kamyab also retired after contact with Nicolas Cortes, while Cortes later stopped in the gravel during the final lap.
Once racing resumed, Sammalisto again protected the lead. Behind him, Hattemer briefly moved into second, while Robinson, Bearman and Bansal fought side by side along the main straight and into the first chicane.
Robinson eventually recovered second on the road, while Hattemer crossed the line third. Bearman followed in fourth ahead of Bansal and Cosma-Cristofor. Meanwhile, Sammalisto remained clear of the trouble and took the chequered flag with another controlled victory.
Penalties promote Bearman and Cosma-Cristofor
The Stewards subsequently handed Robinson a 10-second penalty for contact with teammate Savinkov during the podium battle. Robinson therefore dropped from second to 21st in the final classification.
Hattemer received five seconds for gaining an advantage by exceeding track limits. The penalty moved the Trident Motorsport driver from third to 10th overall and from first to third in the Rookie classification.
Bansal received the same five-second sanction for an identical track-limits infringement and fell from fifth to 13th. As a result, Bearman advanced from fourth to second, while Cosma-Cristofor rose from sixth to third. Arjen Kräling and Rookie winner Alexander Chartier completed the amended top five.

Felbermayr takes the Women’s Trophy victory
Felbermayr avoided the early incidents and finished 14th overall to secure the Women’s Trophy victory. Westcott followed only 0.073 seconds behind in 15th, while den Drijver completed the category podium during her first Italian F4 weekend.
Cotty and Ferreira both retired after their opening-lap incident with Kuklane. Nevertheless, all three classified Women’s Trophy drivers progressed into the Final through their combined performances across the group races.
Further penalties affect the Final grid
In addition to the three time penalties, the Stewards issued several grid sanctions for the Final. Michelini received a six-place grid penalty after causing the incident that forced Cortes off the circuit.
Cortes also received a six-place grid drop for his earlier collision with Kamyab, which ended the PREMA Racing driver’s race. Finally, Orsini received the same sanction following his incident with Rodriguez.
2026 Italian F4: Monza: Race 4 – Final: Sammalisto completes hat-trick as US Racing locks out podium

Luka Sammalisto completed a perfect Monza weekend by winning the Final and extending his Italian F4 victory streak to six consecutive races. Having also swept the three races at Vallelunga, the Finn secured his seventh victory of the season and strengthened his position at the top of the Drivers’ Championship.
David Cosma-Cristofor initially crossed the line second ahead of Oleksandr Savinkov and Noah Killion. However, a post-race penalty dropped the PREMA Racing driver to eighth. Consequently, Savinkov and Killion joined Sammalisto on an all-US Racing podium.
Sammalisto controls the Final from pole
The 36 drivers who progressed from the record 49-car entry faced the hottest conditions of the weekend, with the air temperature reaching 36°C and the track rising to 59°C.
Sammalisto started from pole and retained the lead through the opening corners. Cosma-Cristofor followed in second, while Arjen Kräling initially held third ahead of Thomas Bearman, Ary Bansal and Killion.
Although incidents repeatedly interrupted the rhythm of the race, Sammalisto controlled each restart and led every lap. Cosma-Cristofor remained close enough to apply pressure, but the Finn consistently positioned his car well into Monza’s heavy braking zones.
Behind them, Bansal advanced into third on lap four. Meanwhile, Killion moved ahead of Bearman and joined the leading battle, while Christian Costoya began progressing through the top 10.
Further back, Kenzo Craigie’s Final ended after three laps. Roland Kuklane and Oleksandr Bondarev also retired before the halfway point, reducing the field to 33 classified finishers. The official lap chart confirms that Sammalisto and Cosma-Cristofor remained first and second throughout the 12-lap contest.
Savinkov charges through the field
Savinkov delivered one of the strongest recovery drives of the Final. Starting 13th, the Ukrainian moved into ninth during the opening laps before steadily advancing through the leading group.
He reached sixth by lap six and then passed Kräling and Killion as the race approached its conclusion. By lap 11, Savinkov had climbed into third and placed himself in position to capitalise on any late developments.
Bansal also remained a central figure in the podium battle. However, after running third for much of the race, he lost ground following a late excursion through the gravel. That mistake allowed Savinkov, Killion and Costoya to move ahead.
Meanwhile, Robinson recovered impressively from 16th on the grid. The Qualifying pacesetter climbed into the top 10 and eventually finished ninth, immediately ahead of Italian F4 debutant Simon Rechenmacher.
Aksoy’s race ended during a close fight with Kräling inside the top 10. The contact left both drivers two laps behind, denying the former championship leader an opportunity to recover points after Sammalisto had moved ahead of him earlier in the weekend.
Cosma-Cristofor’s penalty confirms US Racing sweep
Sammalisto crossed the line 1.623 seconds ahead of Cosma-Cristofor, with Savinkov, Killion and Costoya following closely behind. However, the Stewards subsequently handed Cosma-Cristofor a five-second penalty following their review of his battle with Bansal.
The sanction dropped Cosma-Cristofor from second to eighth. Therefore, Savinkov inherited second, while Race 2 winner Killion moved onto the final step of the podium. US Racing consequently completed its second podium sweep of the Monza weekend.
Costoya advanced to fourth and secured the Rookie victory for PREMA Racing. Bansal recovered to fifth, ahead of Elia Weiss and Ludovico Busso, while Cosma-Cristofor’s penalty placed him immediately ahead of Robinson.
Rechenmacher finished 10th overall and second among the Rookies. Alex Ruta and Niccolò Maccagnani followed, while David Walther finished 13th ahead of Rookie podium finisher Knud Nielsen. Bearman claimed the final championship point after recovering from an excursion through the gravel.

Further penalties carry over to the next round
Alongside Cosma-Cristofor’s five-second race penalty, the Stewards imposed two grid sanctions for the next Italian F4 round.
Aksoy received an eight-place grid penalty following his incident with Kräling. Meanwhile, Orsini received a 10-place grid drop after his collision with Lima.
Those sanctions completed a difficult Final for Aksoy, who had arrived at Monza as the Drivers’ Championship leader but left the circuit behind Sammalisto after scoring only one podium during the weekend.

Drivers’ Championship: Sammalisto takes control after Monza hat-trick
Luka Sammalisto leaves Monza at the top of the Drivers’ Championship following his second consecutive three-win weekend. The US Racing driver has reached 228 points after winning Race 1, Race 3 and the Final.
David Cosma-Cristofor remains second on 181 points, while former leader Alp Aksoy drops to third on 166. Oleksandr Savinkov moves into fourth after adding two podium finishes at Monza, ahead of US Racing teammates Ary Bansal and Edward Robinson.

Conclusion: Sammalisto leaves Monza in control
Monza confirmed Luka Sammalisto as the driver to beat in the 2026 Italian F4 Championship. After completing a three-race sweep at Vallelunga, the Finn repeated the achievement by winning Race 1, Race 3 and the Final. His six consecutive victories have transformed the title picture and allowed him to build a 47-point lead over David Cosma-Cristofor.
US Racing also emerged as the dominant team of the weekend. Noah Killion claimed his maiden victory in Race 2, while Oleksandr Savinkov, Ary Bansal and Edward Robinson regularly featured near the front. Two complete podium sweeps underlined the team’s strength, and its advantage over PREMA Racing now stands at 126 points.
However, PREMA still leaves Monza with several positives. Cosma-Cristofor maintained second in the Drivers’ Championship through another consistent weekend, while Alp Aksoy retained the Rookie Championship lead despite surrendering the overall points lead. Christian Costoya also delivered an important Rookie victory in the Final.
Elsewhere, Emma Felbermayr strengthened her Women’s Championship challenge with a productive Monza round, although Emily Cotty remains the category leader. Thomas Bearman, Alexander Chartier, Levi Arn and Simon Rechenmacher also produced standout performances across the four races.
The championship now moves to Mugello, where Sammalisto will aim to extend his remarkable winning streak. Nevertheless, Cosma-Cristofor, Aksoy and the wider PREMA line-up must respond quickly if they are to prevent US Racing from establishing an even firmer hold on both the Drivers’ and Teams’ Championships.
