The 2026 F4 South East Asia (SEA) Championship has been cancelled after ongoing disruptions in the Middle East left the majority of the championship’s race cars stranded in Dubai.

Championship organiser Topspeed informed teams of the decision, bringing an end to plans for the series’ 2026 campaign. With the logistical challenges preventing the transportation of key equipment and cars, cancellation was ultimately the only viable option available to the organisers.

The championship, which operates under FIA certification, had been set to continue providing a development pathway for young drivers across the region. Attention has now shifted towards rebuilding the series and preparing for its anticipated return in 2027.

The cancellation leaves a significant gap in the South East Asian single-seater landscape. Excluding Japan, the FIA-certified F4 Chinese Championship now stands as the only Formula 4 competition available in the region during 2026.

The Chinese series offers competitors the latest-generation Ligier JS F422 chassis powered by Alpine turbocharged engines. The championship also features international race direction, English-language official briefings, and races at FIA Grade 2 circuits across China.

Drivers and teams competing in the series benefit from on-site support from both Ligier and Oreca, with the former providing parts services and the latter supplying technical assistance for the Alpine power units.

While the loss of the F4 SEA Championship is a setback for aspiring drivers in the region, the F4 Chinese Championship remains an alternative option for those seeking FIA-certified Formula 4 competition in Asia throughout 2026.
