Sprint Qualifying for round 17 of the 2026 F1 season has been completed at the Singapore GP, view the full results here.
In FP1 earlier in the day, George Russell was fastest using the older pre-Malaysia Mercedes package, with the lead Ferrari and McLaren drivers not far behind. Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris, Lewis Hamilton and Oscar Piastri ended up completing the top 5 as they all ran on softs.
On mediums, Max Verstappen was the quickest driver in P6, ending up 0.7s off the pace. Championship leader Kimi Antonelli was 7th; he is using the updated Mercedes this weekend as the team gets a comparison. Hadjar, Gasly and Lawson rounded out the top 10.
Haas had a promising session as Ollie Bearman was 11th and Esteban Ocon 13th, split by Racing Bulls driver Arvid Lindblad. Alonso — who finished an absolutely superb P8 in Malaysia — led the Williams’s, Audis, Stroll and the Cadillacs, as well as Franco Colapinto. The Argentinian driver was a full 0.9s slower than his teammate in FP1. Hülkenberg, meanwhile, had a gearbox issue and could not complete a lap near the end after going P10 on the hard tyre.
As the only practice session of the weekend took place in the afternoon, all 11 teams and 22 drivers faced a big dilemma on set-up for Sprint Qualifying as they have had zero running in these new cars in the night time at Marina Bay.
In SQ1, Sergio Pérez crashed at Turn 4 and caused a red flag as he left debris before Turn 8. He broke his front wing and it was stuck underneath the car.
