Mercedes’ George Russell topped the timings in FP1 at the 2026 F1 Singapore GP, full results below.

The first of three triple headers closes out in Singapore, as the Marina Bay Street Circuit awaited for its first-ever Sprint weekend. Fresh from F1’s return to Malaysia, the field headed out for the weekend’s only practice session around the streets of Singapore.

Much of the discussion heading into the weekend centred on Russell’s engine penalty, which will see the Briton start Sunday’s race from the back of the grid. Following his retirement in Sepang, the penalty deals another blow to Russell’s championship hopes as the season enters its final stages.

During the opening stages of the session, the majority of the field headed out on a set of hard tyres. As times continued to tumble, Lando Norris sat at the top of the timings with a 1:34.367. Russell soon lowered the benchmark further, posting a 1:33.886 to lead the way ahead of Charles Leclerc, Isack Hadjar, Kimi Antonelli and Norris, who rounded out the top five.

As the session passed the halfway mark, just five hundredths of a second separated the top three. With seventeen minutes left on the clock, a virtual safety car was deployed for Nico Hülkenberg, who stopped at the pit exit. The Audi driver was pushed back into the pit lane before the session got underway once again.

Russell was the first driver to dip into the 1:32s with a 1:32.864, with Oscar Piastri trailing closely behind with a 1:32.898. The Mercedes driver extended his lead out in front with a 1:32.274, before Norris soon followed with a 1:32.547, closing the gap from five-tenths to about three-tenths. However, as the chequered flag fell, Russell topped the time sheets ahead of Leclerc and Norris.
