Reza Seewooruthun will compete in the 2027 Castrol Toyota Formula Regional Oceania Trophy (CTFROT) with Rodin Motorsport, adding another championship campaign to his preparations for his FIA Formula 3 debut. The 20-year-old British driver will travel to New Zealand in January, where he hopes to challenge for the title before stepping up to FIA F3 with the same team later in the year.

The announcement extends Seewooruthun’s relationship with Rodin Motorsport, having joined the British outfit for the 2026 Formula Regional European Championship (FREC). His campaign included two podium finishes and demonstrated his progress in one of the most competitive categories on the junior single-seater ladder. With his FIA F3 promotion already confirmed, the CTFROT will provide an opportunity to build on that experience while continuing to work with a team he knows well.

Seewooruthun will conclude his 2026 racing commitments at the Macau Grand Prix in November before beginning his New Zealand campaign. His ambitions extend beyond gaining experience, with the British driver targeting regular front-running performances and a championship challenge before taking the next step in his single-seater career.

Seewooruthun continues Rodin Motorsport partnership ahead of FIA F3 promotion

Seewooruthun’s confirmation for the 2027 CTFROT represents the latest development in an important period of his junior racing career. Having already secured his place in Rodin Motorsport’s FIA F3 line-up for next season, the British driver will use the New Zealand championship to maintain his competitive momentum and continue developing his racecraft before making the transition to more powerful machinery.

The decision also provides continuity at a crucial stage in his development. Seewooruthun has spent the 2026 season building relationships with Rodin’s engineering personnel and becoming familiar with the team’s working methods. Maintaining that partnership across the CTFROT and FIA F3 should allow him to concentrate on adapting to the demands of each championship without simultaneously adjusting to an entirely new team environment.

The British driver expressed his enthusiasm about continuing that relationship, emphasising the importance of working with people he trusts as he prepares for the next stage of his career.

“Making this step with a team I trust means a lot. We’ve built something special together this year and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve next.

“First I’ll wrap up my Formula Regional season at the Macau Grand Prix, then it’s the Formula Regional Oceania Trophy and the 2027 FIA F3 season.”

The upcoming campaign will also provide an opportunity for Seewooruthun to pursue another championship title. He is expected to be among the drivers challenging at the front of the field, with his previous experience in Formula Regional machinery providing a valuable foundation as he prepares for the new-generation car introduced for 2027.

From karting to British F4 success

Seewooruthun’s progression towards FIA F3 has been particularly rapid, having only begun his competitive karting career in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite arriving in the sport later than many of his contemporaries, the driver from Poole in Dorset quickly established himself as a promising young talent. By 2022, he had claimed the Junior Rotax English Karting Championship, securing the prestigious E-Plate title before making the transition into car racing.

His introduction to circuit racing came in the Ginetta Junior Winter Series later that year, where he immediately demonstrated his competitiveness by securing podium finishes in every race. Seewooruthun subsequently contested the full Ginetta Junior Championship in 2023, finishing third overall after a season highlighted by a remarkable performance at Brands Hatch. During that weekend, he secured pole position and won all three races, leading every lap and producing one of the standout performances of his early career.

Those achievements paved the way for his move into single-seaters in 2024, when he joined Hitech GP for the ROKiT British F4 Championship. Seewooruthun adapted quickly to the category, claiming two victories and eight podium finishes while also securing the Rookie title. His performances further strengthened his reputation, following recognition through the British Racing Drivers’ Club Rising Stars programme, which has previously supported drivers including seven-time Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton.

GB3 campaign establishes Seewooruthun as a consistent frontrunner

Following his British F4 campaign, Seewooruthun progressed to the GB3 Championship in 2025 with Argenti Prema. He also gained additional Formula Regional experience during the winter, competing in the Formula Regional Middle East Championship as part of his preparations for the European racing season.

His move into GB3 represented another important step, with the championship introducing him to more powerful machinery and an increasingly competitive field. Throughout the season, Seewooruthun demonstrated strong qualifying pace and consistent race performances, regularly challenging towards the front of the grid. His breakthrough came at the Hungaroring, where he secured his maiden victory in the category with a commanding performance.

The British driver eventually finished fifth in the standings, recording five podium finishes during his first campaign. Although he did not challenge for the championship title, his results demonstrated his ability to adapt to another new category while continuing to develop his technical understanding and racecraft. That progress helped secure his move to Rodin Motorsport for the 2026 Formula Regional European Championship.

Two FREC podiums strengthen FIA F3 prospects

Seewooruthun joined Rodin Motorsport for the 2026 FREC season, beginning the partnership that will now continue across two championships in 2027. The British driver made an encouraging start to the campaign, finishing second in Race 2 at Spielberg during the opening round. He subsequently returned to the podium at the Hungaroring, securing third place in the second race and demonstrating his ability to challenge established Formula Regional competitors.

Although his campaign included difficult weekends, the two podium finishes provided important evidence of his development. Competing against drivers with considerable single-seater experience required Seewooruthun to improve his approach to qualifying, race management and adapting to changing conditions. His performances ultimately convinced Rodin Motorsport to retain him for the following season and support his progression into FIA F3.

The team confirmed his 2027 FIA F3 promotion in September, making him one of the first drivers announced for its next campaign. His new programme therefore represents a continuation of an existing development plan rather than a change in direction, with Rodin providing opportunities for him to gain additional experience before competing on Formula 1 support weekends.

Before turning his attention entirely towards 2027, Seewooruthun will compete at the Macau Grand Prix in November. The demanding street circuit will provide another opportunity to develop his skills in Formula Regional machinery, particularly in an environment where precision, confidence and adaptability are essential.

CTFROT provides further preparation for 2027 FIA F3 debut

Seewooruthun’s participation in the 2027 CTFROT will give him four additional competitive race weekends before his FIA F3 campaign begins. The championship will introduce a second-generation Formula Regional car, providing another technical challenge as drivers adapt to updated machinery. Although he already has experience in the category, the change will require him to develop an understanding of the car’s characteristics while becoming familiar with circuits he has not previously raced.

The New Zealand championship has established itself as an important development opportunity for young drivers preparing to progress through the international single-seater categories. Its compact schedule and competitive field provide opportunities to accumulate race experience during the European winter, allowing competitors to arrive at their next championships with recent track time.

For Seewooruthun, the campaign will be particularly valuable given the demands of the FIA F3 format, where drivers have limited practice running before qualifying. His experience adapting to unfamiliar circuits and extracting performance within a short timeframe could therefore prove useful when he begins competing on Formula 1 race weekends.

The CTFROT will also mark another stage in Rodin Motorsport’s expanding junior racing operations, with the New Zealand-owned organisation joining the championship for 2027. Seewooruthun will be part of the team’s first campaign in the series, giving him an opportunity to contribute to its development while targeting competitive results.

Seewooruthun targets further progress on road to Formula 1

With his next two championships already confirmed, Seewooruthun enters an important period in his pursuit of a long-term career in international single-seater racing. Having progressed from karting into Ginetta Junior, British F4, GB3 and Formula Regional, he has continued taking steps towards the higher categories despite beginning his racing career relatively late.

His immediate focus will be on completing his 2026 programme at Macau before travelling to New Zealand for the CTFROT. The four-round championship will provide an opportunity to compete for another title while refining the skills required for his FIA F3 debut, where he will face another increase in performance and competition.

Continuing with Rodin Motorsport across both campaigns should provide valuable stability as he prepares for that challenge. His established relationship with the team, combined with experience from several junior championships, gives him a foundation on which to build during the coming months.

Having secured podium finishes in FREC and confirmed his promotion to FIA F3, Seewooruthun will now aim to make the most of his New Zealand campaign before beginning the next chapter of his career in 2027.
