SRO Motorsports Australia has confirmed an updated six-round calendar for the 2027 GT World Challenge (GTWC) Australia powered by AWS season, with Adelaide officially announced as the championship finale and Queensland Raceway moving one week later in September. The revisions follow the publication of the 2027 Supercars Championship calendar, which created a scheduling conflict affecting several teams, drivers and officials.
The championship will continue to headline the Shannons SpeedSeries across five rounds before concluding on the streets of Adelaide from 27–28 November. The confirmation completes the calendar initially unveiled during June’s CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa, when organisers announced five venues but left the sixth and final event unconfirmed.
The revised schedule also retains the return to Mount Panorama in October, replacing Hidden Valley Raceway as part of the championship’s 2027 programme. Phillip Island, The Bend and Sydney Motorsport Park remain unchanged, providing a mixture of established GT racing venues and major Australian motorsport events across the six-round campaign.
Queensland Raceway moves one week later to avoid Supercars clash
The most significant date change concerns Queensland Raceway, which will now host the fourth round from 24–26 September, with the two race days scheduled for 25–26 September. The Ipswich venue was originally expected to welcome GTWC Australia from 17–19 September, but that weekend now clashes with the Supercars Championship’s endurance event at The Bend.
Supercars confirmed its 2027 calendar on 5 November, scheduling the AirTouch 500 at The Bend for 17–19 September. The conflict would have created difficulties for drivers, teams and officials involved in both championships, particularly given the increasing overlap between Australia’s GT3 and Supercars competitions.
Consequently, organisers have moved the entire Queensland Raceway meeting back by seven days, allowing both events to proceed without a direct scheduling clash.
The revision also affects the wider Shannons SpeedSeries programme, including Monochrome GT4 Australia and Motorcraft Mustang Cup Australia. Those categories will follow the revised Queensland Raceway dates rather than the previously announced September weekend.
The change provides greater flexibility for competitors involved in multiple championships while maintaining Queensland Raceway’s position immediately before the closing two rounds of the GTWC Australia season.
Adelaide confirmed as sixth and final round of 2027 championship
The updated calendar also confirms that GTWC Australia will return to the Adelaide Street Circuit for its season finale, completing the six-round schedule that was initially announced with one venue outstanding.
Adelaide will host the championship’s final two races on 27–28 November as part of the bp Adelaide Grand Final weekend, which also concludes the 2027 Supercars Championship. The event will provide another opportunity for GTWC Australia competitors to race alongside the country’s leading touring car series.
The venue’s confirmation follows the original announcement of five 2027 rounds with the finale still undecided, which identified Bathurst as the final Shannons SpeedSeries event but left GTWC Australia’s overall season-ending destination unconfirmed.
The decision maintains Adelaide’s position on the GTWC Australia calendar for a second consecutive year. The South Australian street circuit will also host the conclusion of the 2026 championship later this month, giving teams another opportunity to gain experience at the venue before returning in 2027.
However, competing alongside Supercars will again require careful planning for drivers and teams involved in both categories, particularly as the two championships approach their respective season finales.
Bathurst remains major addition to 2027 GTWC Australia calendar
Although Adelaide will now host the championship finale, the return to Mount Panorama remains one of the most significant additions to the 2027 schedule. Bathurst will stage the fifth round from 29–31 October, with the GTWC Australia races scheduled for 30–31 October.
The event marks the return of a standalone Shannons SpeedSeries meeting to the famous circuit for the first time since the Bathurst International in 2024. It also provides GTWC Australia with another opportunity to compete at one of the country’s most demanding venues, known for its dramatic elevation changes, narrow mountain sections and high-speed straights.
Bathurst replaces Hidden Valley Raceway, which joined the GTWC Australia calendar in 2026. The Darwin event provided a new challenge for competitors, but the move to Mount Panorama strengthens the championship’s connection with one of Australia’s most established GT racing destinations.
The October meeting will conclude the five-round Shannons SpeedSeries calendar before GTWC Australia travels to Adelaide for its separate championship finale.
Mount Panorama’s return also adds another major event to an already busy October schedule, following the Supercars Bathurst 1000 earlier in the month.
Phillip Island, The Bend and Sydney retain their 2027 positions
The opening three rounds remain unchanged from the provisional calendar issued in June, with Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit retaining its position as the traditional season opener. The Victorian venue will host the opening event from 16–18 April, marking a later start than the 2026 campaign, which began in March.
GTWC Australia will then travel to Shell V-Power Motorsport Park at The Bend from 28–30 May. The South Australian circuit will provide a different challenge through its combination of long straights, high-speed corners and technical sections, requiring teams to adapt their setups after Phillip Island.
Sydney Motorsport Park follows from 23–25 July, moving considerably earlier in the year compared with its September position on the 2026 calendar. The New South Wales venue will host the third round before the championship enters a two-month break ahead of Queensland Raceway.
The earlier Sydney date creates a more balanced first half of the campaign, while the final three rounds will take place across September, October and November.
The championship’s 2026 Sydney weekend coverage demonstrated the circuit’s importance to the title fight, with the penultimate round featuring close competition across the Pro-Am, Am and Trophy categories.
Updated 2027 GT World Challenge Australia calendar
The revised calendar comprises six rounds across five Australian states, with Adelaide confirmed as the season finale and Queensland Raceway the only event to change its previously announced dates.
- Round 1 — Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, Victoria: 17–18 April
- Round 2 — Shell V-Power Motorsport Park, The Bend, South Australia: 29–30 May
- Round 3 — Sydney Motorsport Park, New South Wales: 24–25 July
- Round 4 — Queensland Raceway, Queensland: 25–26 September
- Round 5 — Mount Panorama, Bathurst, New South Wales: 30–31 October
- Round 6 — Adelaide Street Circuit, South Australia: 27–28 November
The dates above refer to the scheduled GTWC Australia race days. The wider event weekends may include additional practice and qualifying sessions.
Revised calendar provides greater certainty for teams and drivers
The confirmation of Adelaide and the Queensland Raceway date change provide teams with a clearer framework for planning their 2027 campaigns. The adjustments are particularly important for organisations involved in multiple Australian championships, where shared drivers, personnel and logistical resources can make overlapping events difficult to manage.
The calendar will retain GTWC Australia’s established six-round structure while introducing the additional challenge of Mount Panorama. Adelaide’s return also ensures the championship will conclude alongside Supercars, maintaining its presence at one of Australia’s major season-ending motorsport events.
However, the scheduling considerations surrounding the Adelaide finale remain relevant. The 2026 championship’s preparations for Adelaide have already highlighted the complications that can arise when GTWC Australia competitors also have commitments in Supercars.
With the Queensland Raceway conflict now resolved, the championship can begin preparing for a campaign that combines familiar venues with a significant return to Bathurst. The six-round schedule will open at Phillip Island in April before concluding on the Adelaide streets seven months later, where the 2027 GTWC Australia champions will be crowned.
