SRO Motorsports Australia has revealed a provisional 2027 GT World Challenge (GTWC) Australia powered by AWS calendar featuring five confirmed rounds and a highly anticipated return to Mount Panorama.

GTWC Australia will once again headline the Shannons SpeedSeries, with Phillip Island, The Bend, Sydney Motorsport Park and Queensland Raceway joining Bathurst on the schedule. However, SRO Motorsports Australia has yet to confirm the championship’s sixth and final event. The organisation plans to announce the remaining round, alongside finalised event details, in the coming months.

Phillip Island retains 2027 GTWC Australia season-opening position

GTWC Australia will begin its 2027 campaign at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit from 16–18 April. The Victorian venue has become the championship’s traditional season opener and will once again provide the first competitive test of the year.

From there, GTWC Australia will travel to South Australia for its second round at Shell V-Power Motorsport Park from 28–30 May. The Bend’s long layout, high-speed corners and technical sections will offer a different challenge from Phillip Island as teams begin building their championship campaigns.

Sydney hosts GTWC Australia’s mid-season round

Sydney Motorsport Park will stage the third confirmed event from 23–25 July. The New South Wales circuit will mark the halfway point of the five currently announced rounds and continue its regular place on the GTWC Australia calendar.

Its mixture of fast corners, heavy braking zones and racing under changing conditions has regularly produced close competition.

Following Sydney, GTWC Australia will enter a break before resuming at Queensland Raceway in September.

Queensland Raceway returns before Bathurst finale

Queensland Raceway will host the fourth round from 17–19 September. The Ipswich circuit gives GTWC Australia another distinct challenge, with its comparatively simple layout placing a greater focus on braking performance, acceleration and close racing.

The championship will then travel south for its final confirmed Shannons SpeedSeries appearance at Mount Panorama. Bathurst will host the fifth event from 29–31 October as part of a standalone Shannons SpeedSeries weekend.

Bathurst returns to GTWC Australia calendar

GTWC Australia’s return to Mount Panorama represents the major headline from the provisional calendar. The Shannons SpeedSeries last held a standalone Bathurst event through the Bathurst International in 2024. Its return in 2027 will place GTWC Australia at the centre of another major weekend at one of the world’s most recognised circuits.

Mount Panorama’s narrow sections, major elevation changes and high-speed Conrod Straight will create one of the season’s toughest tests.

Moreover, Bathurst holds a special place within Australian GT racing, making its return significant for teams, drivers and supporters.

Ben McMellan welcomed the provisional schedule and highlighted the importance of Mount Panorama’s comeback.

“We’re excited to unveil the provisional GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS calendar for 2027, featuring five outstanding venues and a highly anticipated return to Mount Panorama,” said McMellan. “Bathurst is synonymous with Australian motorsport and having the category compete there as part of the newly confirmed Shannons SpeedSeries event is a major highlight for teams, drivers and fans.

“Starting the season at Phillip Island and visiting venues such as The Bend, Sydney Motorsport Park and Queensland Raceway ensures competitors will face a diverse range of circuits throughout the year.

“We continue to work through opportunities for the final round and look forward to confirming those details once they are finalised.

“The early release of the calendar is important for our teams, commercial partners and event stakeholders as they begin preparations for the 2027 season.

Sixth 2027 GTWC Australia round remains unconfirmed

Although SRO Motorsports Australia has confirmed five Shannons SpeedSeries rounds, GTWC Australia will contest a sixth event in 2027. However, the championship has not yet revealed the venue or date for that final outing.

As a result, the eventual placement of the sixth round could alter the shape of the season and determine whether Bathurst serves as the championship finale.

SRO Motorsports Australia will confirm those details after completing discussions with prospective venues and event stakeholders.
