Tina Hausmann looked set for her first F1 Academy podium of 2025 in Race 1 at Zandvoort. After qualifying seventh, Hausmann lined up on the front row for the reverse-grid start; however, she lost out to Lia Block at Turn 1. Then, a mistake at the second corner sent her off track and through a board into the barrier, ultimately ending her race early and bringing out the Safety Car.
She followed this up in Race 2 on Sunday by crossing the chequered flag in the Top 5, despite facing tyre degradation and the constant pressure of teammate and Race 1 winner Nina Gademan. Furthermore, reflecting on the weekend, Hausmann said she was happy to have something to show for her strong Qualifying result on Friday, noting that the 10 points on Sunday helped make up for Saturday’s encounter.
“It helps to leave the weekend on a positive note. We did a good job on Friday and in Qualifying. It would have been a shame to leave the weekend with a bad feeling, but today we made up for it.
“I really learned from what happened yesterday. It was a small mistake with a big cost or a big consequence. Today we went again with a lot of confidence and it worked out really well. I made-up two positions and finished P5, so good points.”
Positive outlook for Singapore
With Gademan winning Race 1 in Zandvoort , Hausmann consequently moved down to eighth in the F1 Academy Drivers’ Standings. Looking ahead to Singapore — Hausmann’s favourite track — she remains optimistic about her prospects there. Although she scored only a single point at the circuit last year, she believes her extensive preparation in the simulator this season will pay off during the upcoming race weekend.
“I’m really confident for Singapore,” noted Hausmann. “It’s my childhood dream to race in Singapore, so my motivation is very high. I really want to make myself proud.
“I’m preparing well in the simulator because it’s a very specific track with a lot of walls around you, so you need to be on top of things before even starting. I think it’s going to be a good weekend.”
