Rising Singaporean driver Kabir Anurag will make his GB3 debut at Donington Park this weekend (4/5 October), as he reunites with Xcel Motorsport. Consequently, the 18-year-old Alpine Academy member embarks on the next stage of his career with a team that already knows his talent well.

A natural step after F4 success

Anurag arrives in GB3 with considerable single-seater experience at Formula 4 level. Indeed, he made his car racing debut in Italian F4 two years ago, and since then, he has steadily built an impressive record. Moreover, this season alone he has scored eight top-10 finishes in a field regarded as one of the most competitive in junior motorsport.

In addition, he ended the 2024 campaign with strong momentum, capturing two victories in the F4 UAE Trophy with Xcel Motorsport. As a result, his return to the team now feels like a natural continuation of that success. Furthermore, Anurag carried his form into the start of 2025, winning races in the Formula Winter Series at both MotorLand Aragón and the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Preparation for the next challenge

Testing the Tatuus MSV GB3-025 car at Donington Park and Snetterton has given Anurag valuable seat time before his competitive debut. Therefore, he enters the weekend with a clear understanding of the machinery and the demands of the series. Importantly, he will also complete the remainder of the season with Xcel Motorsport, giving him consistent support as he adjusts to the step up.

Expressing his excitement, Anurag said: “I’m really excited to be back with the team and to take on the challenge of GB3. Donington and Monza are two incredible circuits, and I can’t wait to gain experience, push myself, and hopefully deliver some strong results. A big thank you to everyone who has made this possible – I’m looking forward to getting started this weekend.”

Team confidence in his potential

The team also views the move as a logical progression. Team Manager Gary Bonnor commented: “We’re very pleased to welcome Kabir back into the team. He showed great speed and maturity during his F4 UAE campaign, and this step into GB3 is a natural progression for him. Donington and Monza will be fantastic learning opportunities, and we’re confident Kabir will quickly get up to speed and show what he’s capable of.”

Ultimately, Anurag’s GB3 debut represents both a challenge and an opportunity. On the one hand, he must adapt quickly to a faster and more complex car. On the other hand, his recent form and prior relationship with Xcel Motorsport suggest he is ready to make an immediate impact. Therefore, as the season continues, all eyes will be on the young Singaporean to see how far his talent can take him.
