Oliver Goethe continued his impressive form to claim the fastest time of Day 2 at F2 post-season test at the Yas Marina Circuit. The MP Motorsport driver clocked a 1:37.049 in the morning session, maintaining the momentum that saw him top the timesheets on the opening day.

Whilst Goethe set the benchmark for the day, Invicta Racing’s Rafael Câmara emerged as the afternoon pacesetter with a late lap of 1:37.646, showcasing the competitive nature of the two-day test.

Goethe edges out Dunne during Day 2 of F2 post-season test morning session

The morning session burst into life immediately as Goethe wasted no time establishing his position. After an opening lap of 1:40.156, the German driver quickly improved to 1:39.483 before his MP Motorsport teammate Gabriele Minì briefly took control with a 1:38.759.

Alexander Dunne of Rodin then matched that exact time, setting the stage for an intriguing battle at the front. The advantage swung back to MP Motorsport when both drivers switched to Supersoft tyres, with Goethe posting a 1:37.390. Mini responded by closing to within 0.035s of his teammate, whilst Nikola Tsolov slotted into third for Campos Racing.

Dunne reclaimed the top spot with a 1:37.318, but the session was briefly interrupted when Mari Boya stopped on the Main Straight, triggering a red flag period. When running resumed, Goethe delivered the decisive blow with his 1:37.049 to secure the fastest time of the morning.

Rafael Villagómez and Dino Beganovic both featured prominently, with Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak climbing to fourth late in the session with a 1:37.476. The morning concluded with Goethe leading Dunne, Minì, Inthraphuvasak, and Beganovic in the top five.

Câmara strikes late during afternoon session

The afternoon belonged to a different set of protagonists in Day 2 of the F2 post-season test, with Dunne carrying his strong form into the later session. The Rodin driver initially led with a 1:39.723, narrowly ahead of teammate Martinius Stenshorne by just 0.045s.

Joshua Duerksen brought Invicta Racing into contention with a 1:39.715, though Dunne quickly reasserted himself with progressive improvements to 1:39.435 and then 1:39.359. Stenshorne briefly held the top spot before Duerksen fought back, first with a 1:38.195 and then a 1:38.191.

On the softer compound, Duerksen extended his advantage to 0.882s with a 1:37.742, appearing comfortable at the front. Câmara moved into third on Medium tyres with a 1:38.57, though he trailed the leader by 1.1s at that stage.

However, the Invicta Racing driver saved his best for last. With just five minutes remaining, Câmara bolted on a set of Supersofts and delivered a stunning 1:37.646 to claim the afternoon honours and secure second-fastest time of the entire day.
