Aston Martin F1 have revealed the livery for the all-new AMR26, which will be raced by Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll, and overseen by Adrian Newey, in the 2026 season. It marks a significant milestone for the Silverstone-based squad. The new paint scheme includes the iconic British Racing Green used for the past few seasons, along with some splashes of white and red as a result of the new Honda partnership.

New era for Aston Martin with Honda and Newey

Aston Martin’s collaboration with Honda brings a new power unit to the team, replacing their previous partnership with Mercedes that dated back to 2009, when the team was still known as Force India.

Honda’s recent successful partnership with Red Bull gives encouragement that the Japanese manufacturer can produce a leading power unit under F1’s sweeping changes for 2026.

Adrian Newey, one of F1’s most successful designers, has joined the team, bringing his innovative approach to car design, and surprisingly, to team management, as he’s been appointed team principal for the 2026 season.

Aston Martin driver line-up remains unchanged for 2026

Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll will continue to drive for Aston Martin in 2026, providing stability and experience to the team.

Alonso, who is set to embark on his 23rd F1 season, and his fourth with Aston Martin, looks to pursue his elusive third F1 title – or even just his 33rd grand prix victory, after 13 years since the last at the 2013 Spanish GP. His consistent high-level will surely benefit from what is set to be a relatively more competitive Aston Martin compared to the last few years.

Stroll, on the other hand, will enter his 10th season in the sport, as has already stablished himself as a safe pair of hands in the midfield, if not a little inconsistent sometimes. The Canadian will hope he can repeat performances such as the one in the final race of the 2025 season, when he went from 15th to 10th with some bold overtakes in between.

In-House Suspension and Gearbox

The team is developing its own suspension and gearbox in-house for the first time, a significant departure from their previous reliance on Mercedes supplied parts. This move gives Aston Martin greater control over the AMR26’s design and performance, allowing for more bespoke solutions in the brand new set of 2026 F1 regulations.

A disappointing 2025 season

In 2025, Aston Martin finished seventh in the Constructors’ Championship, with 89 points to their name. Just three less than sixth place finisher Racing Bulls. The team showed promise at times, like a 5th and 6th on the grid at Hungary.

But the season was marked by inconsistency, with a car that would work well in high-downforce configuration but was nearly a backmarker on low-downforce, high aero-efficiency circuits such as Spa-Francorchamps.

That meant that one one weekend they were out in Q1 with both cars (Spa), and the very next one they were looking like the third fastest team on merit (Hungaroring).

They will be looking to rectify that with a more consistent 2026 car, and overall more competitive.

2026 regulation changes

The 2026 F1 regulations bring significant changes, including a near 50/50 power split between internal combustion engines and electric motors. The hybrid system will see a major increase, with electric power rising to approximately 45% of the power. The cars will also run on 100% sustainable fuel, and the MGU-H will be removed, simplifying the hybrid system.

With its long-time partnership with Saudi petrol company Aramco, it’s expected that Aston Martin will benefit from the move to sustainable fuels, given it will most certainly have a bespoke fuel formula especially designed by the Saudi company to work in unisom with the Honda engine.

Along with this, the all new chassis and aerodynamic regulations provide a clear opportunity for a team like Aston Martin to try and vault itself up the order in the 2026 F1 season.
