G4 Racing has confirmed the signing of Jules Roussel as its first driver for the 2026 season, as the French talent prepares to compete in the Formula Regional Middle East (FRME) Trophy or FRMET. The announcement marks an important milestone for the team’s expanding Formula Regional programme and, at the same time, represents the next step in Roussel’s progression through the single-seater ranks following an impressive junior career.
From karting success to single-seaters
Born in 2006, Roussel comes from a family deeply rooted in motorsport. He is the son of former racing driver Patrice Roussel, winner of the LMP2 class at the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans, and the grandson of former rally driver Pierre Roussel.
Roussel began karting at the age of seven and competed until 2023. During this period, he built a strong record by winning the National Series Karting title in 2023 and finishing runner-up in the 2022 Coupe de France. He then stepped up to single-seaters in 2024, joining the FFSA Academy-run French F4 Championship. In his rookie season, he claimed his first podium at Spa, underlining his rapid adaptation to car racing.
Roussel remained in French F4 for 2025 and delivered another consistent campaign, finishing third overall in the championship. He scored multiple podiums, secured victories at Spa and maintained strong form across the season.
He capped off the year in spectacular fashion by winning the FIA F4 World Cup. By taking the lead in the closing laps, Roussel sealed one of the most prestigious victories in junior single-seater racing and confirmed his ability to perform at the highest level under pressure.
A breakthrough 2025 season
Roussel now joins G4 Racing following what proved to be a breakthrough 2025 campaign with the FFSA Academy. Throughout the season, he combined speed, consistency and racecraft, allowing him to establish himself as one of the most competitive drivers of his generation.
His defining moment came with victory at the FIA F4 World Cup in Macau. On one of the most demanding circuits in world motorsport, Roussel delivered a controlled and decisive performance, reinforcing his reputation as a driver capable of excelling in high-pressure conditions.
A new challenge in Formula Regional
The 2026 FRME Trophy will mark Roussel’s debut in Formula Regional competition. Commenting on his step up, he expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity and the challenge ahead:
“I’m very happy and proud to join the G4 team for the FRMET. It’s an amazing opportunity to work with such a professional and motivated team. FRMET is a highly competitive championship, and I’m excited to take on this challenge, keep improving race after race, and give my maximum with the team. Thank you to G4 for the trust — can’t wait to get started.”
A new era for G4 Racing and FRME in 2026
The 2026 FRME season will also introduce the new-generation Formula Regional car, the F3R Gen2. The championship will begin in Abu Dhabi, where all drivers will face a shared learning curve with the new chassis.
This technical reset is expected to tighten the field further. As a result, FRME should continue its tradition of close and competitive racing while offering an ideal platform for emerging talent to develop at a high level.
Adrián Muñoz, Sporting and Technical Manager of G4 Racing, highlighted both the significance of the signing and the timing of the new project. He said:
“I’m delighted to confirm Jules as our first driver for the new FRMET project. With the introduction of the F3R Gen2 car, we continue growing in the category. Jules is an outstanding talent from the FFSA Academy who showed his speed, racecraft and maturity during a fantastic 2025 season, culminating with his victory at the FIA F4 World Cup in Macau. With the new generation of cars, all drivers will face the same learning curve at Abu Dhabi, but as always, FRMET will feature a grid full of talent, producing exciting races as in previous seasons. The future is now.”
By confirming Roussel as its first signing, G4 Racing has taken the opening step in building its 2026 driver line-up. Furthermore, the move reinforces the team’s commitment to nurturing top-level young talent as it embarks on a new chapter in FRME competition.
