Ritomo Miyata completed his second Formula 2 season in 2025 ranked 17th in the Drivers’ Championship with 30 points, for ART Grand Prix. His campaign combined strong race execution with uneven qualifying form, producing a standout podium and confirming his place as a reliable midfield runner in a tightly matched field.

Building momentum through key moments

Miyata’s 2025 F2 season found its footing after a measured start in Melbourne. He qualified 12th and held position in a chaotic Sprint Race, calmly working through traffic as the rain-hit Feature Race was cancelled. Bahrain highlighted his recovery skills, as he surged from 19th on the grid to 9th in the Sprint. He shrugged off contact with Alex Dunne before securing 14th in the Feature Race.

Momentum continued at Imola. A 10th place qualifying result earned him reverse grid pole, which he converted into a composed 6th in damp Sprint conditions through smart tyre management. Traffic issues later dropped him to 16th in the Feature. Monaco delivered another points finish, with 10th from 11th showing his growing confidence on street circuits. His Feature Race ended early, however, after a first corner pile up.

Ritomo Miyata F2 2025 season high point came at Spa-Francorchamps. Miyata mastered changing wet conditions to finish 2nd in the Feature Race. Bold strategy and well-timed overtakes through a shuffled pack marked the strongest performance of his F2 career. An 8th place Sprint finish from midfield completed a standout weekend. These moments showed his increasing comfort with European circuits and Pirelli tyres, allowing him to turn midfield starts into steady results when conditions allowed him to.

Race strengths offset qualifying laps

Miyata repeatedly showed strong race day composure. He often gained positions through controlled overtakes and careful tyre management, from Bahrain’s attrition to Spa’s precision. Qualifying remained the main weakness of his campaign. Starting outside the top 10 limited his progress in both Sprint and Feature races, especially on tracks where overtaking is difficult.

This was evident at Jeddah, where penalties left him 19th and 16th in both races, and at Silverstone, where he finished 15th in the Feature. Stronger sessions, such as Imola, hinted at unused pace when preparation aligned.

Ritomo Miyata F2 2025 verdict

Miyata’s 30 point haul and Spa podium capped a season of slow, but steady progress. Strong race craft provided the highlights, even as qualifying limited his potential. With more experience and a podium under his belt, Miyata will be looking to improve on his consistency for the upcoming 2026 F2 season, alongside new teammate, Colton Herta, in Hitech TGR.
